Proceedings:

1. The Head of Department initiated the meeting by emphasizing the importance of

collaboration among faculty members. Each faculty member introduced themselves,
providing their name, last degree title and year, years of experience, and their research
interests. This exercise aimed to foster a better understanding and collaboration among
the faculty members.
2. The Head provided an overview of the department's growth since 2019. At that time,
there were four programs: BS in Computer Science (CS), BS in Software Engineering
(SE), BS in Information Technology (IT), and MCS (Masters in Computer Science). The
department had only one doctoral member and approximately 12 faculty members.
However, presently, we have three new programs BSAI, MSCS, ADP CS, there are
around 24 faculty members, including four PHDs and several members with over 8 years
of experience, which is considered a strength of the department.
3. Dr. Muhammad Wasim stated that the main agenda of the department is quality
education, emphasizing that there can be no compromise in this regard. To ensure quality
education, the Head emphasized the importance of focusing on quality from the outset,
particularly highlighting the significance of course outlines and Outcomes-Based
Education (OBE) course outlines that clearly mention the Course Learning Outcomes
(CLOs) of the course.
a. The Head stressed that all sections of the same course must follow the same
outline. For example, there are multiple sections of various courses such as
Computer Network (2), Database Systems (3), Software Requirement
Page 2 of 4
Engineering (2), Human Computer Interaction (2), Digital Logic Design (6),
Information Security, and Object-Oriented Programming (7). It was emphasized
that all sections of the same course must adhere to the same outline.
b. Lab manuals must be available at the beginning of the semester after discussion
with the resource person. The Head highlighted the importance of clear guidance
for effective teaching and stressed that if instructors are unsure about what to
teach in the next week, it will lead to struggles throughout the semester and
compromise the quality of education.
c. The Head advised preparing solutions simultaneously with assessments to ensure
equal evaluation and timely completion of folders. For assessment, four quizzes,
four assignments, and mid-term and final exams are mandatory for BS programs.
Passing criteria for BS program is 50 marks and 60 marks for MS programs. It
was emphasized to start assessments early to avoid bottlenecks at the end of the
semester and to provide feedback to students promptly.
4. Faculty members were instructed to monitor student attendance closely. If a student is
not registered, ensure that the student understands their attendance will not be marked
until registration.
5. At the beginning of the semester, faculty members were advised to motivate students
related to the course, convey the benefits of the course, and mentally prepare them for
studies. It was highlighted as the responsibility of faculty members to discuss this in the
first week of the semester.
6. Dr. Muhammad Wasim emphasized the importance of cleanliness in offices. Faculty
members were instructed to display counseling hours (10 hours/week) and nameplates
outside their cabins. Those without nameplates were advised to contact Mr. Amir (OFM)
for assistance.
7. Batch advisors were reminded of their responsibilities, including conducting two
meetings with batch advisees during the semester, with the program in-charge presence
to address student issues.
8. Faculty members were reminded to prioritize quality in all decision-making processes,
whether related to final year projects or regular courses. It was emphasized to deal with
students logically and maintain quality standards.
9. Details regarding the upcoming NCEAC visit were provided. Faculty members were
encouraged to present their best efforts, the visit is for dual intake. It was explained that
the visit includes evaluating infrastructure and gathering feedback from faculty.
10. The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing attendees to seek
clarification on any points discussed.
Action Items:
 Submit course outlines and lab manuals (Spring 2024) by the end of the week.
 Wind up pending tasks related to lab folders (Fall 2023) before the NCEAC visit.
