INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT-II FOR PHYSICS REMEDIAL (10%)

1. Two blocks, of weights 3.6 N and 7.2 N, are connected by a massless string and slide
down a 300 inclined plane. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the lighter block
and the plane is 0.10, and the coefficient between the heavier block and the plane is 0.2.
Assuming that the lighter block leads, find
a) The magnitude of the acceleration of the blocks
b) The tension in the taut string
2. After a completely inelastic collision, two objects of the same mass and same initial
speed move away together at half their initial speed. Find the angle between the initial
velocities of the objects.
3. A horse pulls a cart with a force of 40 lb at an angle of 300 above the horizontal and
moves along at a speed of 6 mi/h.
a) How much work does the force do in 10 min?
b) What is the average power (in horsepower) of the force?
4. In Fig. below, a block slides along a track from one level to a higher level after passing
through an intermediate valley. The track is frictionless until the block reaches the higher
level. There a frictional force stops the block in a distance d. The block’s initial speed v i
is 6 m/s, the height difference h is 1.1 m, and μk is 0.60. Find d
