THE HOLY ROSARY
A PRAYER FOR ALL TIME
HOLY ROSARY
The Rosary is a traditional
Catholic devotional prayer
that honors Mary and helps
us to meditate on the life of
Christ through prayer as well
as meditation.
4
HOLY ROSARY
The Rosary is meant to
lead us to Christ and into
union with God.

5
The prayers prayed in the
Rosary are the following:

⊷ The Creed
⊷ The Lord’s Prayer
⊷ The Hail Mary
⊷ The Glory Be
⊷ The Hail, Holy Queen
6
THE CREED

It is the summary of the basic
truths of our faith. It is being
prayed at the beginning of the
Holy Rosary. The Creed has
two kinds namely, the
Apostles’ and the Nicene
Creed.
7
THE OUR FATHER

Jesus first taught this prayer
to his disciples. The Our
Father is the “summary of the
whole Gospel”, “the perfect
prayer “. It is “handed on” in
Baptism to signify the new
birth of the children of God
into the divine life.
8
Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father, Who art in Heaven,

hallowed be Thy name;
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be
done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass
against us; and lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from
evil. Amen.
9
THE HAIL MARY
The Hail Mary (Latin: Ave

Maria) is a traditional Catholic
prayer asking for the
intercession of the Blessed
Virgin Mary, the mother of
Jesus.

10
“Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is
with you. Blessed are you
among women and blessed is
the fruit of your womb, Jesus.”
[St. Elizabeth]

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray

for us sinners now and at the
hour of our death. [Prayer of the
11
Church]
THE GLORY BE
The prayer is known as the “Little

doxology”. Doxa is the Greek word
for “glory” which refers to the brilliant
and radiant beauty of God.
It directs” Glory “to the Father, our
Creator; to the Son, our Savior; and
to the Holy Spirit, the Sanctifier.

12
“Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning
is now
and ever shall be world
without end.
13
Amen.
THE HAIL , HOLY QUEEN
The Hail Holy Queen prayer,

originally known by its Latin name,
Salve Regina, is recited at the end of
the Rosary. In this prayer we pay
homage to the Blessed Virgin Mary,
our “Mother of Mercy,” and humbly
ask for her assistance.

14
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy.
Hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To you do we cry poor banished children
of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs
mourning and weeping in this valley of
tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate,
Your eyes of mercy towards us. And after
these our exile, show unto us the blessed
fruit of Your womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
