PITMAN SHAFT ASSEMBLY 3042 WRB WITH MESSINGER BEARINGS (2 wenrica, sme searmics) AND LABYRINTH SEALS = 3/31/62 REFERENCE PART LIST 524-161-1 GENERAL INFORMATION Cleanliness is of utmost importance and a dust proof location should be selected for dismantling and reassembly. The jaw crusher shaft assembly consists of eccentric shaft, side bearings, pitman, pitman bearings and flywheels. The shaft assembly transmits rotary ‘motion into a semi-reciprocating motion to perform the crushing action. Before disassembly of the jaw crusher, clean all grease and dirt away from pitman end beating housings. 11 is very Omportant that the entire operation of disassembly and assembly of the shaft assembly be done in a dust free location and all parts must be kept clean. Right or left hand side of shaft assembly is determined by viewing the jaw crusher from the feed opening side. To disassemble the jaw crusher shaft, itis fist necessary to remove the flywheels. INSTRUCTION 170 SECTION "1 PAGE 1 DISASSEMBLY Removal of Flywheels With Split Hubs and Tapered Keys SPLIT HUB, DRAWBOLTS Loosen the nuts on the four drawbolts through the split hub, Drive wedges in the split of the hub to loosen the flywheel on the shaft. Remove the tapered key by driving a wedge between the face of the Aywheel hub and the head of the Key. If the key does not loosen sufficiently for easy removal, add shims between the face of the hub and the key wedge and continue using wedge to drive out the key. NOTE: It is often advisable to soak the keys and keyways overnight with penetrating oil to aid in loosen- ing the keys. ‘After the key is removed make arrangements for holding and lowering the flywheel and slip the flywheel from the shaft. ‘To remount flywheel reverse the above procedure. CAUTION: Use the tapered key as a guide for ining up the keyways in the flywheel and shaft but do not drive key in until the hub drawbolts have been drawn down tight.
