743766 - Variances: no error message KV011

Component: CO-PC-OBJ (Cost Object Controlling), Version: 2, Released On: 08.06.2004

Symptom
You execute the variance calculation - for seemingly identical manufacturing orders, the
system generates message KV011 for one order but not for the other.

Other Terms
KKS2, KKS1, KKS1N, SAPMKKS0

Reason and Prerequisites

The orders are manufacturing orders with full settlement ("FUL").

Solution
Production orders with full settlement are taken into account in the variance calculation if
the status is "Technically completed" or "Delivered". If the status has not been set, the
system generates message KV011 "Order does not have status DLV or TECO".
Manufacturing orders for which one of the two statuses had been set in the past but has been
undone in the meantime (for example, by reversal of the final delivery), must participate in
the variance calculation since the system assumes that they have already participated in a
variance calculation before and that the variances must be reversed again. In this case,
message KV011 is not issued.
This may have the following undesired side effects:
If a manufacturing order has never participated in a variance calculation but if the
status 'Finally delivered' or 'Technically completed' has been set and undone
immediately, the order participates in the variance calculation and the system sets the
status "Variance determined". This is valid, too, if the variance calculation is carried
out for a former period than, for example, the period of the final delivery.
If the status 'Variances determined' has been set, the settlement settles the total
variance to FI. However, nothing may have to be settled to CO-PA (Profitability
Analysis). As a consequence, the total variances in FI and CO-PA do not correspond in a
particular period.

In order to prevent a manufacturing order from participating in a variance calculation, you

should be cautious to assign and undo the statuses 'Fully delivered' or 'Technically
completed'. If no variance calculation has occurred between the status change, you can, for
example, remove the variance key to prevent the manufacturing order from participating in a
variance calculation. Else, consider the described effects.
