Overview
Welcome to the world of Personal Financial Planning! This programme on 'Personal Financial
Planning' is designed to help individuals effectively manage their finances and achieve financial
security for themselves and their loved ones. We aim to establish a solid financial foundation that
ensures stability and protection throughout your journey. Through this FDP, you will be able to
define and prioritise your short-term and long-term financial goals. The programme provides
guidance on budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management to empower you to work towards
your goals and build wealth over time. The FDP also emphasises risk management and
incorporating insurance tools to safeguard you and your assets. We address tax efficiency by
educating you on tax laws, deductions, and credits and providing strategies to minimise tax
liabilities. Therefore, this programme aims to enable participants to make informed financial
decisions and achieve financial well-being.

Objectives
• The primary objective is to establish a strong financial foundation that ensures stability and
protection.
• To provide guidance on budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management to help users work
towards their goals and build wealth over time.
• To enable participants to incorporate risk management tools, such as insurance, to safeguard
individuals and their assets.
• To enable participants to undertake effective tax planning by understanding fundamental
taxation law to minimise tax liabilities.

• Risk analysis and Risk Management Tools (Insurance Planning)
• Investment Planning and Avenues
• Personal tax planning

Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to understand the setting up of financial goals, budgeting aspects to
achieve those goals, saving and investment strategies, risk management aspects, and
taxation-related aspects.

Methodology
The session will focus on concepts and build understanding through interactive lectures, case
discussions, videos, group discussions, and classroom activities.
Who should attend?
The programme is designed for the Faculty and other interested professionals.

Programme Fee
• For employees of Somaiya Vidyavihar Colleges and University, the fee is ₹590 (inclusive of GST)
• For external participants, the fee is ₹1180 (inclusive of GST)

Facilitators
Dr Ketan Mulchandani, CMA FRM, FMVA, FIII, is a Professor at the
Department of Finance and Law, K J Somaiya Institute of
Management, Mumbai. He has over 17 years of experience, out of
which 11+ years in teaching and 6 Years of industry experience. His
academic qualifications include a PhD, MBA with a finance
specialisation, and BCom; CFA Level-III Candidate (CFA Institute,
USA), FRM, Fellow of Insurance Institute of India, NCCMP From NSE
Academy, 4 Modules Cleared of Certified Financial Planner
(Financial Planning and Standard Board of India) and Couple of
certifications cleared from NISM, Mumbai.

Dr Swati Godbole is an FCA, PhD in Management, a qualified DISA

holder and an Associate Professor with K J Somaiya Institute of
Management, Mumbai. She has a rich teaching experience
spanning over a period of 30 years covering courses in Taxation,
Financial Accounting and Financial Management. She has been
practising independently since 1993 and has carried out Company
Audits, Bank Audits, Management and Tax consultancy practices
for over 25 years.
