refers to how the elements of art
(line, shape, color, value, space,
form, texture) relate to each other
within the composition in terms of
their visual weight to create visual
equilibrium
Unity/Harmony
Ensuring that all elements in the
design work together cohesively
to convey a unified message or
concept.
Contrast
Emphasizing differences
between elements to create
visual interest and hierarchy.
Emphasis/Focal Point
Directing the viewer's attention
to a specific area or element
within the design.
Proportion/ Scale
Maintaining appropriate sizes
and ratios between elements to
create a sense of harmony.
Hierarchy
Organizing elements in order of
importance, guiding the viewer's
eye through the design.
Repetition/ Rhythm
Using consistent patterns or
motifs to create visual continuity
and flow.
Typography
Selecting appropriate fonts and
text styles to enhance readability
and convey the intended tone.
Color
Utilizing color theory to evoke
emotions, create contrast, and
establish visual hierarchy.
White Space/Negative
Space: Intentionally leaving
areas empty to improve clarity
and focus attention on key
elements.
