Activity 1: Essay – As a would-be art teacher, write your own philosophy on the approach you
want to pursue in your art program. Explain your reasons in detail.

In order to help students explore their creativity and hone their artistic abilities, my idea as
an art teacher is to establish a supportive and welcoming environment. Self-expression, critical
thinking, and cultural knowledge should all be encouraged in addition to technical proficiency in
art instruction. As I would encourage students to study the world around them and interpret their
discoveries into meaningful artworks, I would emphasize the value of observation and
imagination in my art program. My approach would focus around reflection and collaboration.
Students should work together on group assignments and conversations to create a positive and
encouraging learning environment. Students are able to improve their communication skills, get
fresh viewpoints, and learn from one another through these cooperative activities. I firmly think
that art has the ability to both reflect and connect with the world around us.

In general, I would teach art with the goal of encouraging and enabling pupils to express
themselves creatively, hone their artistic abilities, and build a lifetime appreciation for art. Every
kid has the potential to be an artist, and it is my responsibility to give them the resources,
direction, and encouragement they need to realize that potential.
