The diagram below shows the life cycle of a salmon, from eggs to adult fish

The pictorial diagram outlines the information concerning the life cycle of salmon, from birth to maturity.

Overall, a salmon's reproduction and development process entails several developmental steps and takes
place in three distinct environments, beginning with the spawn being laid and ending with the adult salmon
fully growing in size (1) returning to their natal waters.

Initially, the salmon begins its life in the form of an egg which is incubated and later hatch into a young
fish. This proliferation activity happens in the river and then is followed by the newly-hatched fish being
reared (2) rearing in the freshwater. Subsequently, the young salmon make migration to the estuary for
feeding purposes.

In the next stage of this cyclic process, the salmon moves to the ocean where he/she keeps (3) continued
growing / their growth until reaching his/her mature size / reaching their full maturity. After the fish
fully-grows / Once maturation is complete, he/she swims upstream back to the river and searches for an
opposite-sex partner to fulfill the mission of his/her life - reproducing to perpetuate the species.
