SECTION A: Question 1 is compulsory and must be attempted

Question 1

You and your fellow students have been invited to attend an academic seminar at Excellence
University. Students in the faculty of economics have prepared different presentations on
different topics in readiness for the seminar. Doctor Kayombo is to deliver a keynote speech
under the seminar theme. Due to his massive experience and familiarity with large audiences, it
was easy for him to deliver his presentation with easy and everyone was impressed and cheered
for him. Although he seemed calm and composed, he admits that it is never easy to stand in front
of a strange audience and put up a good show.

a) What are Doctor Kayombo’s strategies for becoming a good public speaker?

b) Good public speaking skills can help you advance your career and create opportunities.
Describe other Five (5) advantages of being a good public speaker. (10 marks)
c) There are many tips that can help an individual become a better public speaker. Mention
any Five (5). (10 marks)

Note taking is an essential learning skill for college/university students to apply during as well as
after lectures. The notes taken during lectures should contain important facts or ideas presented
by the lecturer/teacher. Implementing a system of note taking is important for several reasons.
a) Enumerate any Five (5) reasons for taking down notes? (10 marks)
b) Explain Five (5) skills that one needs when taking down notes. (10 marks)

Google Scholar is one of the search engines recommended for literature search by ZCAS
University because of its many advantages. Describe any Four (4) advantages of using Google
Scholar. (20 marks)
