DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN FAMILY OF ORIENTATION QND FAMILY OF PROCREATION.

The family of orientation refers to a family which a person is born consisting of self, brothers
and sisters. And family of procreation also refers to as a person leaving his family to create a new family
consisting pf self, wife pr husband.

EXPLAIN THE STAGES OF FAMILY LIFE CYCLE

The first stage comes about through marriage as a couple. This is known as the stage of
expansion. This occurs when the couple give birth to a child and until the couple completes their
childbearing activities.

The second phase of the development cycle is called the phase pf fusion which marked by the
marriage of the children and lasts until the last child marries out. During this stage,the house begins to
experience a more complex character because some of the married out to join their husbands. Others
who had actually married out would have returned with their children as a result of divorce, windowed
or quarrels with their husband.

STATE AND EXPLAIN FIVE FUNCTIONS OF A FAMILY.

The function of a family are;

 Socialisation: th family trains children in the accepted modes of behavior of the society.

*Security:the family provides a sense of security for its members. It provides care, protection,love
affection and emotional support for its members.

*Support:the family encourages personal growth,emotional development and self fulfillment of their
children through love,affection and support to the children.
*Procreation:the family is to reproduce so that as older ones die,younger omes are born to take their
place.

*Status giving:the family give status qnd identity to its members. In Ghana,every child is given name by
the family.

A Father /husband.

 Settlement of conflicts: The husband must be able to settle conflicts that may arise among
member of the family.

*Provision of sexual and emotional needs: it is the responsibility of the father to provide the wife with
sexual and emotional needs.

Bringing up and nurturing of children :the wife or mother has a re to bringing up and nurture her
children. The mother needs to ah the role of taking care of the personal hygiene of the children
especially when they are very young.

C) children

Economic support : children after school studies are expected to assist their parents in their trade to
provide for sustenance at home and cost of schooling.
*Domestic chores support to the family : children are to support their parent in domestic chores eg.
Cooking, washing utensils, fetching water, scrubbing etc.

5) State 2 disadvantages of matrilineal system of inheritance and that of patrinliineal.

*The matrilineal system of inheritance encourage laziness on part of the nephews and brothers.

*The patrinliineal system of inheritance is said to generate jealousy among the extended family member.
This is because a man’s property is transmitted directly to his children.
