ORGANIC AND
INORGANIC LINES
LINES
-are one of the many elements of art and are
regarded as the most basic among all
elements of art.
-can be used to connect shapes together or to
divide them into sections.
LINES
-In artistic expression, a line can take various
forms beyond being straight, including curves,
twists, and sharp angles.

-The diverse types of lines can convey a sense


of depth and motion, define boundaries, and
emphasize specific aspects within a piece of
artwork.
Two kinds of Lines
1. ORGANIC LINES
Organic lines are asymmetrical and curve. They do not
follow the shape of any geometrical figure. They do
not follow any rules. These lines are lines found in
nature. Drawing organic lines would express fluidity,
gracefulness, enthusiasm, and naturalness.

INORGANIC LINES
Inorganic lines are the complete opposite of
organic lines. They are regular and follow a
geometrical pattern and a geometric shape. They
are rigid and follow certain rules. These lines are
used when drawing man-made structures like a
house or a car.
INORGANIC LINES
An inorganic line demonstrates
control over nature, thus, having its
rigid characteristics compared to the
fluidity of an organic line.

When we are used together, organic and
inorganic lines it create visual interest and
enhance the overall composition of an artwork.
They can be used to emphasize certain aspects or
create a specific mood or atmosphere. The
combination of these lines can bring balance,
rhythm, and harmony to a composition, adding
depth and complexity to the visual experience.
