Additional bars of T32 @150mm c/c spacing is embedded at the ends of the wall in the inner
face of the existing bar by chemical anchorage which is recommended by SSE as follows
 Scanning is done to identify the reinforcement inside the raft using structure scan mini
as shown below image 1 & 2.
 Marking is done on the raft Reinforcement for the drilling as shown in Image 3.
 The surface of the Raft concrete where the drilling will be made is cleaned without
dust & debris.
 Drill is made above the Raft concrete at the specified location.
 Required depth of the drill is made which is proposed by Hilti.
 The debris inside the drill is removed by air blower
 Then the approved chemical (HILTI RE500) is filled in the drilled hole and the steel
rod is introduced into the drill hole as per Manufacture recommendation.
 Pull out test is carried out for the design load & the test report is attached.
 Inspection is raised to ensure the reinforcement has been placed as described above
and upon approval further work will be proceeded

2. Corrective action / method done

 One coat of SIKAGARD 720 EPOCEM from SIKA is coated on the whole area of the
lift pit in the raft of W3 (north & south tower) as per SSE recommendation (Ref. SSE-
DXB/EMMAR/DCH/TH/29/2015 REV 3)
 Concrete substrates are prepared mechanically using high pressure water jetting
equipment to remove cement lattice, especially oil or wax containing layers.
 Weak concrete were removed and surface defects such as blow holes and voids
must be fully exposed.
 All dust, loose and friable material are completely removed from all surfaces before
application of the product, preferably by brush.
 The mixing and the application method/tools is made as per Technical data sheet of
SIKAGARD 720 EPOCEM.

2. Operating/Working procedure
2.1. The removal of rust is done in the following areas of reinforcement
a. E2 South & North Raft reinforcement which is fixed at site.(5120544/NE2/S/1101 &
5120544/SE2/S/1101).
b. All vertical reinforcement (starter bars,columns,core walls) of all rafts. Columns
(5120544/NE2/S/5001&5120544/SE2/S/5001)&(5120544/NE3/S/5001&5120544/SE3/S/500) and
core walls (5120544/NE2/S/7001 & 5120544/SE2/S/7001) & (5120544/NE3/S/7001 &
5120544/SE3/S/7001) piles starter bars(5120544/NE3/S/0401 & 5120544/SE3/S/0401).
c. Stacked steel in the site premises ,intent to be utilised for balance raft work of E3 & E2
rafts(North & South).
2.2. Fixed reinforcement in raft for Tower E2(North & South)
 The whole area of the raft is divided into 4parts (Refer enclosed drawing).
 Reinforcement of each part of raft have is cleaned separately as follows
 The dust is removed from the surface of the reinforcement by using air Compressor.
 The reinforcement is cleaned with the sweet water using high jet water pressure of pressure
ranging from 100 to 120Psi
 The Waste water is collected using a dewatering pump and is disposed to the designated area.
 Then inspection is raised to the consultant, after approval further activities will be proceeded.

2.3. vertical reinforcement(starter bars,columns,core walls)


 The dust is removed from the surface of the reinforcement by using air Compressor
 The reinforcement is cleaned with the sweet water using high jet water pressure of pressure
ranging from 100 to 120Psi
 The Waste water is collected using a dewatering pump and is disposed to the designated area.

 Then inspection is raised to the consultant, after approval further activities will be proceeded.
2.4. stacked steel in site premises
 Two or three platforms is made and the steel rods in which the rust is to be removed is placed above
platform based on convenience.
 The dust is removed from the surface of the reinforcement by using air Compressor
 The reinforcement is cleaned with the sweet water using high jet water pressure of pressure
ranging from 100 to 120Psi
 The Waste water is collected using a dewatering pump and is disposed to the designated area.
 Then inspection is raised to the consultant, after approval further activities will be proceeded.
