My experience of communication lab - Dr.

Kajal Gupta

Being a doctor and transitioning to MBA was a really big and scary step for me, it’s been a roller
coaster ride of emotion since the day I took admission. As per the schedule shared with us, our 1st
session was Communication Lab and facilitator was Mr. Sanjeev Kumar. Being a medico, I did not
know anything about communication lab and of what it pertains. Finally came the day for our 1st
session of communication lab, I was anxious on the first day with 130 complete strangers an online
platform with a subject which I don’t know of. I thought it’s going to be a disaster and I won’t be
learning anything out of it as it doesn’t relate to my core expertise but in contrast to my expectations,
at the end of communication lab sessions I learned a lot of awesome things and let me tell my story in
4 phases

Phase 1 - My Stupid Notion

On the very 1st day of our class, I was in front of 130 strangers marking the start of my journey I was
super nervous and skeptical and then my skepticism skyrocketed when I saw Mr. Sanjeev Kumar,
seeing such a seasoned professor I thought the session would be boring and will not be an energetic
session with the expectation that he’d be very strict and rigid.

Phase 2 - There's more than meets the eye

As and when our class progressed, all my stupid notions burst into the thin air as it turned out be one
of the life changing and thought-provoking sessions of my life which instilled confidence and go get
attitude in me. I got an opportunity to create and present a presentation on Men’s Mindset. Sanjeev
sir has guided me all along with regards to the content and flow of the presentation, with his guidance
I was able to create a beautiful presentation showing not only the atrocities and discrimination faced
by women but also the plight of being men and the difficulty they face.

Phase 3 – Confidence Rush

The Process of creating the presentation on such a complex topic has not only given me the
perspective towards the topic but also helped me to get better in story building while creating a
presentation.

I was scared as well as under confident when it comes to presenting the slides in front of all the
people thinking it is going to be a disaster but with the motto of ‘Victory is beyond the fear” I finally
presented the topic, with each passing slide my confidence getting higher and higher, at the end of
presentation I was not only be able to deliver the presentation beautifully but also exceeded my own
expectation and learned something very precious that day ‘Never Underestimate yourself’.

Phase 4 – This heart wants more

The journey from being ‘skeptical about the session’ to ‘can’t get enough of it’ was beautiful and
full of learnings. There couldn’t have been a better start to MBA. In span of 5 days and with so many
students, Sanjeev sir has created a shockingly remarkable and long-lasting impact on me. I didn’t even
realize that we were approaching to the end of his lectures. On the last day, I was blue as I wanted
more and more of his lectures but unfortunately It came to an end. Having witnessed such an
impactful session, my expectation from this course has increased multifold. At the end of his session, I
could say that from being skeptical about this course, now I am looking forward to take on this course
with lot more confidence and excitement.

I hope in future I will again get a chance to learn from him. I would like to wish him all the best for his
future endeavors
