Activity 2: Proactive Advising: Using Academic Mapping answer the box below by supplying the
necessary information.
Answer the questions below in the space provided. You can write in sentences or bullet points, if you
choose to draw/doodle your answer feel free to do so.
1. How did Academic Mapping help you? Academic Mapping was incredibly beneficial as it
allowed me to identify my strengths and weaknesses in different subjects, providing clarity
on areas where I needed improvement and areas where I could excel.
2. What are the things to be considered when doing Academic Mapping? When doing Academic
Mapping, it's important to consider one's personal goals and interests, the resources
available for improvement, and to be honest and self-reflective when assessing strengths
and weaknesses.
3. Considering your answers in the “Areas of Difficulty”, “Areas of Success”, “I need help with”, and “I
can help others by,” assess yourself on a scale of 1-5. 5 being very competitive and explain why?
I would rate myself a 4 on the scale because I have a clear understanding of my academic
areas of success and difficulty, and I'm actively working to improve in the areas where I
need help. This enables me to not only excel in my strong subjects but also assist others
by sharing my knowledge and offering support where necessary.
