1 Introduction
This document describes how to install the 19-inch SAU kit for external
alarms. It also describes how to install the OVP-ALM8 kit.

For more information on replacing the SAU, refer to Replacing Alarm

Units.

2 Included Products
The kits include the following products.

2.1 SAU kit

• 1 SAU

• 1 SAU bracket kit

• 1 DIN rail kit for 19-inch rack

• 1 SAU to RBS (SCU) cable

• 1 Installation Instruction

2.2 OVP-ALM8 kit

• 1 OVP-ALM8

• 1 OVP to SAU cable

3 Required Tools
The tools required for this installation are listed below.

• Torx 20 Screwdriver

• Torx 30 Screwdriver

4 Installing the SAU kit

1 Attach the 19-inch
mounting brackets
using the 6 screws. Tighten
2 Tighten the screws
using the Torx 20
screwdriver.

3 Attach the cage

nuts in the 19-inch
rack.

4 Attach the SAU

and the DIN rail Tighten
using the 4 screws.

5 Tighten the screws

using the Torx 30
screwdriver.

6 Connect the 17m

cable between the
Power/EC-bus
connector on the
SAU and the SAU
connector on the
SCU in the RBS.

5 Installing the OVP-ALM8 kit

1. Attach the OVP
module by pushing it
down and in.

2. Connect the cables

between the SAU and
the OVP module.
Connect Alarm 1-4
on the SAU to 1 on
the OVP and Alarm
5-8 to 2 on the OVP.

3. If more than one OVP

module is installed,
connect Alarm 9-12
and Alarm 13-16 to 1
and 2 respectively on
the following OVP
module and so on.
