Hygiene - is science that deals with health and its maintenance.


Health - the state of individual who enjoys physical, mental and social well being.
Personal Hygiene - deals with these measures taken by the individual to preserve his
own health.
Sanitation - measures for the protection of public health.

Personal Cleanliness and Care to maintain Good Health:

The body should be washed frequently from head to foot.


The hair should be neatly combed and trimmed.
Brush your teeth every after meals.
Engage regularly in some form of physical exercises or recreational activities.
Whenever possible get 7-8 hours sleep each night.
Cut finger nails regularly
Maintain bowel movement everyday.
Change your undergarment and clothes every after bath.
Use clean and properly fitted socks.
Dentures should be remove art night for 3 to 4 hours period for proper stimulation.
Washed your hand before touching any food to eat.

Importance of Personal Hygiene


It enlightened and protects the individual or group against the spread of diseases in the
environment.
It promotes sound positive health or boast ones morale, of the individual.

Diseases Acquired with Poor Hygiene and Sanitation.


Respiratory Disease - Transmitted from man to man through nasal droplet of an infected
individual.
Internal Disease - Transmitted by food and water that have been contaminated.

Five F Carriers of Intestinal Disease.

Fluid
Feces

Communicable Disease - Illness that can be transmitted from man to man or from
animal to man.
Contagious
Infectious

Insect Borne Disease - Transmitted from person to person by insect.


Malaria
Yellow Fever

Venereal Disease - sexually transmitted disease through sexual intercourse.


Syphilis
Gonorrhea
Herpes
AIDS

FIELD SANITATION
Never stay in a crowded place where in you have identified a person with a disease.
Don’t sail the ground with urine and feces.
Never throw food scraps, can refuse or bottle around the area.
Avoid intercourse with prostitute woman.
Avoid contact with animal wherein sanitation is poor.
Cleans and disinfect your mess utensils every after meals.
Used a mosquito net and other sleeping paraphernalia.
Latrine should be kept away at least 200 yards from the water source and mess hall.
