Traditions & Cultures Pasundayag: This vibrant festival is celebrated annually by the Manobo
people in various parts of CARAGA. Pasundayag translates to "showing"
or "exhibition," and the festival showcases the rich culture and traditions
of the Manobo community.

Pagtatabu: This is a traditional tattooing practice followed by the T'boli


people of South Cotabato and parts of Sarangani. T'boli tattoos, called
"habla," are not just decorative; they are believed to possess spiritual
significance and serve as a form of protection. Designs often incorporate
geometric patterns, animals, and symbols representing strength, courage,
and social status. The tattooing process is intricate and uses traditional
tools; thorns or needles dipped in charcoal ink are tapped onto the skin to
create the design. Pagtatabu is a dying art form, but efforts are underway
to preserve this unique cultural practice.

Siargao International Surfing Competition: While not strictly a


traditional cultural event, this world-renowned competition held annually in
Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, has become a significant part of the
region's identity. Surfers from around the globe gather to compete on
Cloud 9, a legendary surf break known for its powerful and challenging
waves. The competition attracts thousands of spectators, creating a
vibrant atmosphere and contributing to Siargao's reputation as a premier
surfing destination. This event not only promotes tourism but also
showcases the natural beauty and surfing potential of CARAGA.
