INSTAGRAM TIPS

The templates are used to design a cohesive feed that brings in more Instagram followers,
likes, and comments for your business.

1. Post regularly
Posting regularly is critical to increase engagement and earn you more followers.
Have you changed your store hours? Are you hosting a sale? Are there any upcoming
events? When do you launch the new collection or start a new service? Are you offering a
giveaway? These are all things your customers need to know.

2. Use hashtags strategically

Hashtags make it possible for people who don’t follow you to discover your content.
Combine popular IG hashtags with smaller niche hashtags in every post. For the best results,
research each hashtag. Look at the type of content and the number of likes on its top-
performing posts—if your content matches up, you’ve got yourself a winning hashtag. Also,
compile a list of hashtags relevant to your brand so you don't have to conduct exhaustive
research every time you post.

3. Use Instagram Live constantly

Going Live for brands skyrocketed in popularity in 2020 when marketing managers and
business owners found themselves working from home but still needed to connect with
customers on a personal level.

4. Write great captions

Captions are a chance to enhance your content further and there are plenty of ways brands
use them. Some choose to treat captions as a place for sharing stories and micro-blogging.
Others use them to add a short, snappy headline to a post. Still, others use captions to ask
questions and encourage replies. The possibilities are endless. What’s important is to ensure
the copy is aligned with your brand.

5. Check the Insta insights

All business profiles have access to analytical insights. These include the number of users
looking at your posts, profile visits, and any actions taken. Check these insights regularly
and use them to understand how your business is doing on Instagram, which posts work
and who do not. Continually evolve and adapt your social strategy based on these insights.

INSTAGRAM TIPS (CONT.)

6. Look at Your Competitors

Just because they’re your competitors does not mean you have to pretend their Instagram
accounts do not exist. In fact, your competitor’s social media accounts can often be great
learning tools for your own business in terms of inspiration and analyzation. What do you
admire about your competitor’s profile that you could incorporate into your own? Do they
have more followers than you? Do they appear to have better engagement? If so, what are
they doing that you aren’t? If you can view their followers, take a look at their list of followers
for a quick glance at their demographics.

7. Partner with micro-influencers

Instagram influencer marketing has become increasingly significant, allowing marketers to
work with key thought leaders in their sector and push brand messaging out to a wider
audience. Micro-influencers are generally more affordable, have a more personal
connection to their audiences, and they’re perceived as more authentic.

8. Host an Instagram contest

Contests are a powerful engagement tool on Instagram, generating more engagement than
regular posts. This involves giving away a product or service, and users enter the contest by
following your account, liking the post, and tagging their friends in your post. If the giveaway
is executed well, this can be a powerful tactic to boost engagement and brand awareness.

9. Use emojis effectively

Sometimes an emoji captures your feelings perfectly. Coupling it with a hashtag makes your
post discoverable to those searching for that emoji. Used right emojis can help you insert
personality and fun into your brand and help build a more emotional connection to your
audience. In fact, Millenials and Gen Z are so used to emojis that they see messages without
them as more “cold”.

10. Dedicate a set time for social media every day

Whether you use this time to post on Instagram, respond to comments or create content for
your small business to post on Instagram, it will be easier to post consistently if it’s part of
your daily schedule. Creating a content calendar can ensure that your posts are getting
published at the right times & that your account is consistently active. Remember, the key to
creating a successful Instagram account is consistency!
