ISL214E Statistics II-Problem Session

An experiment was carried out to test the effects on yields of

five varieties of corn and five types of fertilizer. For each variety-
fertilizer combination, three plots were used and the yields
recorded, with the results shown in the following table:

Fertilizer Variety of Corn

83 73 82 88 83
78 79 88 90 86
2 72 71 88 82 75

Q1. Test, at the 5% significance level, the null hypothesis

if the Corn B mean is 75.

Q2. Test, at the 5% level, the null hypothesis that Corn C

has greater mean than Corn D mean.

Q3. Test the null hypothesis that population mean

of corn types are the same for all corn types. Prepare
the one-way analysis of variance table for it.

Q4. Prepare the two-way analysis of variance table for

green rows and all columns. Build the appropriate
null hypotheses to test corn types mean, fertilizer
types mean and interactions.

Q5. Prepare the two-way analysis of variance table . Build

the appropriate null hypotheses to test corn types
mean, fertilizer types mean and interactions.
