ASSIGNMENT 1: RESEARCH PROCESS

Aim:
Develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the research process, including problem
identification, selection of research topic, and research ethics.

Instructions:
• This is an individual assignment.
• For the report, students should use Arial 12 font and 1.5 spacing with justified alignment.

Task:
• Choose ONE topic within the construction industry and the built environment. If you're struggling
with topic selection, consider areas such as sustainable construction, digital transformation in
construction, construction safety etc.
• Identify at least three articles published from 2018 to 2023 from journals indexed by Scopus/Web
of Science (WoS)/Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)/Malaysian Citation Index (MyCite).
The articles must be related to the chosen topic.
• You are to complete the following:

1 Identify the research title based on the preliminary literature review and list 4
three (3) keywords from your title.
2 Write the background of the research (of not more than 500 words) 10

3 Describe the problem statement (at least 3 issues/statements for not more than 12

4 Ascertain the aim and objectives (3 objectives) of the research 8
