Official Criteria for Es ma ng Total Schools Offering Business Programs by Country/Territory

To be counted for the purposes of es ma ng the number of schools offering business programs in a given country or territory,
ins tu ons must meet the following criteria:
1. They must be legally opera ng ter ary-level educa onal ins tu ons, i.e., have permission/authoriza on from the na onal Ministry
of Educa on (or equivalent). Ins tu ons are not counted if there is reason to believe that they are diploma mills, opera ng illegally,
and/or are otherwise shady.
2. They must confer at least one Bachelor's degree or higher (or the na onal equivalent in some cases, e.g., Post-Graduate Diplomas
in Management in India) in one or more of the following fields: Accoun ng, Business Law, Commerce, Decision Sciences,
Entrepreneurship, Finance (including Insurance, Real Estate, and Banking), Human Resources, Management, MIS, Management
Science, Marke ng, Opera ons, Organiza onal Behavior, Organiza onal Development, Strategic Management, Supply Chain
Management (including Transporta on and Logis cs), Technology Management, etc.
3. The award(s) in ques on must be conferred in their own name, i.e., bearing the name of their own ins tu on, and not simply
validated or franchised through another ins tu on. Joint and dual-degree programs are generally OK, so long as the name of the
ins tu on in ques on appears on the award, whether alone or jointly with that of another ins tu on.

Schools mee ng the above criteria are counted once, in their country/territory of origin. Branch or mul ple campuses are not
counted separately, unless they are meaningfully autonomous from one another, and/or if business degree offerings differ
significantly from campus to campus.
