groups.
ü Each group must select their best
pair to represent their group for a
dance showdown.
ü I will play a Cha-cha music then
you will create a simple Cha-cha
steps to determine your prior
knowledge.
BALLROOM DANCING
üA form of couples dance which are
enjoyed both socially and competitively
around the world.
üIt is widely enjoyed on stage, film, and
television.
The term “ballroom” is derived from the
word ball, which in turn originates from
the Latin word ballare, which means to
dance.
History of Cha-cha-cha
ü The cha-cha dance originated
from Cuba was originally
known as the cha-cha-cha.
ü It gained popularity around
1950s and was created from
two dances – the “mambo”
and the “danzon”.
History of Cha-cha-cha
ü Enrique Jorrin, a violinist and
composer is credited with the
creation of cha-cha music.
ü Enrique and his team in
Orquestra America released two
of his new compositions in the
year 1953, the ‘La Engañadora’ Enrique Jorrin
and the ‘Silver Star’.

that they need to accomplish.
• The task can be through
performance or oral.

INSTRUCTIONS:
• Each group will make a cha-cha-cha
dance presentation.
• You can add steps and make any
combinations but basic steps must
strictly observe in your performance.
• Performers are free to select their cha-
cha-cha music.
• For the duration of dance, 1-2
MINUTES is the allotted time.
