“Assessing the Feasibility of Sustainable Solid Waste Management Solutions: Garbage to

Green”

Introduction

Solid waste management (SWM) continues to dominate as a major societal and

governance challenge, with increasing urbanization, population growth, and

consumption patterns increase the problem. In the pursuit of sustainable development,

the effective management of solid waste is imperative to mitigate environmental

degradation, health hazards, and resource depletion. The purpose of this study is to

explore viable solutions to address the challenges associated with solid waste

management, aiming to transition from conventional waste disposal methods towards

sustainable practices.

The concept of Garbage to Green encloses the fundamental objective of transforming

waste materials into valuable resources through innovative and environmentally sound

strategies. By adopting a holistic approach that integrates waste reduction, recycling,

composting, and energy recovery, the study seeks to minimize the environmental

impact of waste generation while maximizing resource recovery and utilization. It

acknowledges the current state of solid waste management, highlighting the

inadequacies of existing practices and the imperative for sustainable alternatives.

moreover, this study provides an overview of the methodology employed in assessing

the feasibility of various waste management solutions, emphasizing stakeholder

engagement, technical feasibility, economic viability, and environmental sustainability as

critical evaluation criteria.

The proponent's goal is to identify the different solid waste management problems, and
recognize and assess the solutions being used in addressing these problems, and
provide other possible solutions to further solve the issues associated with waste
management
