CARING FOR THOSE IN NEED

1. Thịnh: Hey, Ngọc, where are you going?

2. Ngọc: Oh, Thịnh, I’m going to the supermarket to buy some ingredients for cooking. I’m
preparing to cook some delicious food and donate some old clothes for children with
cognitive impairments. Our campaign is called “ A warm christmas”
3. Thịnh: That sounds exciting, when and where will you launch this campaign?
4. Ngọc: we will gather at my home, cook meals such as soups, boxed luch, and prepare
carefully our old clothes for them before Christmas
5. Thịnh: Wonderful. I’m really fond of this idea. The disabled have so many difficulties in
learning, understanding, mobility,… Therefore, we should provide them with a lot of
support to become independent, and intergrate in the community.
6. Ngọc: I couldn’t agree more. In fact, People with cognitive impairments often find it hard to
understand new things and, cannot learn quickly. Moreover, children with
a physical disability may be unable to get out of bed or get around without help.
7. Thịnh: exactly. there are numerous children with cognitive impairments facing a lot of
discrimination in life.. Therefore, I strongly believe that people should learn more about
children with cognitive impairments and they must be treated more equally. They have
different learning difficulties, but that does not mean that they cannot learn. . An instance
illustrating this in action is that Einstein, the father of modern physics, could not read until
he was eight, but that did not stop him from becoming one of the great scientists of our
time. Do you think so?
8. Ngọc: I absolutely agree with you. Futher, there should be more contacts between people
with cognitive impairments and other non-disabled people. Study groups or group work
can bring them together and will help to build their self-esteem. When working together,
we will recognize each other’s limitations and discover hidden talentsThis environment
may boost the confidence of children with challenges and allows them to forget their
disability, which is utmost important.
9. Thịnh: That’s for sure. Raising awareness about people with impairments is vital to eliminate
this matter. It’s undeniable that Better understanding of cognitive impairments and more
contacts between non-disabled and disabled people will change attitudes and reduce
discrimination in life. Oh Ngọc, can I join your campaign?
10. Ngọc: of course yes. We are always welcome
11. Thịnh: Great. I want to pay back to our community. Volunteering is the most
rewarding way to get involved and change people's lives. I hope that they will have a
better life.
12. Ngọc: That’s right. Our world will be a better place to live with much love and humanity. Oh’s
it late, it’s time I went.Let’s meet again this weekend. I’ll introduce you to the other
volunteers
13. Thịnh: Thank you very much for your time. I’m very happy to work with you.
14. Ngọc: Me too. Goodbye. See you later.
15. Thịnh: Byeeeeee
LIFE SKILLS
1. Thinh: hi ngoc, Long time no see, I heard that you have to study hard these days
2. Ngoc Oh That's right I'm having a lot of tests. It makes me feel so tired.
3. Thinh: Try your best, I believe you'll get over successfully
4. Ngoc: thank you. There's a bench over there. Let's sit there and talk together
5. Thinh that sounds great, oh, Look over there, is that Lan the new classmate in your
class?
6. Ngoc That's right. She is my new friend that came to my class 3 months ago.
7. Thinh Oh I can realize that you and lan have become close friends, ngoc
8. Ngoc: we have. I really admire( ngưỡng mộ) her because She’s very independent.
9. Thinh: oh wow she never relies on other pp for help and isn’t influenced by other pp’s
opinions?
10. Ngoc: Yes, I absolutely agree with you. She has an independent lifestyle and I love all of
that
11. Thinh: Have you ever asked her about How to become independent in lifestyle? As far as
I am concerned, In this day and age, so many young people strive to be independent. That means
you are able to take care of yourself, and you don't have to rely on anyone else. I heard it's hard
to do.
12. Ngoc: of course, To my knowledge, to live independently, you need a number of life
skills in order not to depend on your parents and older brothers or sisters. One of the skills is
time management which can help you build your confidence and self-esteem.
13. Thinh: From my perspective, With good time management skills, you have the ability to
perform your daily tasks, including your responsibilities at school and at home with pleasant
results. Moreover, you will not feel stressed, depressed when exam dates are approaching.
14. Ngoc: yeh besides that in my viewpoint coping with loneliness is the most significant
skill.
15. Thinh really? Why do you think so?
16. Ngoc: Owing to the fact that lacking this skill may make me feel depressed and I may
make the wrong decisions about my life. Therefore, I desire to become a self-reliant person. For
instance, my new friend – lan, although our math exercise was very difficult, she always tries to
find solutions to her problems and seldom needs help from others. What about you? Which of
the skills is the most important for you?
17. Thinh: well, I would say the most vital skill is general housekeeping. Obviously, it's also a
basic skill in life that you need to have. It means the management of a home and the work that
needs to be done in it, such as doing the laundry, cleaning the house, … . It's undeniable that
Having general housekeeping skills may definitely support you so much in the future. When you
have to live far away from your hometown, you might have to do everything by yourself. If you
are proficient in housekeeping, this problem will become so simple.
18. Ngoc: oh that’s for sure, I strongly believe that we must make efforts to enhance these
skills to become independent people
19. Thinh: exactly, break time is over and see you another time, we'll talk more about it
20. Ngoc: okey see you later.
