WELCOME ADDRESS BY THE C.A.C

DIRECTOR OF YOUTH AFFAIRS PASTOR S. O.
GBUYIRO

We are grateful to God, who by the sacrifice of His only begotten son, Jesus, has made us
accepted in the beloved. (Ephesians 1:3-6. May His name be praised forever. Amen.
I am delighted to welcome you all to yet another Easter celebration for a fresh encounter
with God as we leverage the redemptive package and the presence of the Holy Spirit for renewal
of strength to mount up with wings like eagles and run with the heavenly vision to the promised
land.
This season is offering us another opportunity to deepen our understanding of all that
pertain to life and godliness, especially to know the Lord and walk in His purpose, for in this
alone can we boast. Thus says the Lord:
But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows Me (personally and
practically, directly discerning and recognizing My character), that I am the Lord, Who practices
loving-kindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight, says the Lord"
Jeremiah 9:24 Amp.
The above passage has set God's own agenda before us, and to achieve this, we shall be
feasting on the word of God under the theme "CHRIST: THE HOPE OF GLORY."
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made
manifest to His saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this
mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:26-27)
Restoration of glory is a long-held expectation of man, as he looks earnestly for divine
intervention right from the fall of Adam. This hunger in man could not be satisfied, as no one,
not even among angels, was found fit to make this dream come true. Then the question is, "To
whom could we hang our hope?"
Glory be to God, fortunately there's good news from heaven, as recorded by the writer of
the book of Hebrews:
"But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death,
crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man...
For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many
sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings" (Hebrews 2:9-
10)
To us believers who have been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus and are fully
convinced of the salvation in Christ, the joyous celebration of Easter is motivated by this
conviction that Christ in YOU is the hope of glory. So now Jesus and the ones He makes holy
have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them His brothers and sisters. For
he said to God,
"I will declare the wonders of your name to my brothers and sisters. I will praise you
among all your people" (Hebrews 2:11-12 NLT)
Brethren, the future is very bright; just hold on tightly to Jesus and His unfailing promises
on this pilgrimage. All the beauties in this world will fade into insignificance when compared to
the beauty and glory of the coming Christ and, by extension, all Christians.
"When He shall appear, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is." (John 3:2)
We shall also share in His unfading and imperishable glory!
"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into
the same image from glory to glory, even as by the spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18)
By beholding the face of God and unveiling our minds, we can be more like Him. The
more closely we follow Christ, the more we will be like Him and be partakers of His glory.
It is worth expressing and sharing annually during the Easter festive season that our glory
is secured in Christ Jesus, both in the present and in the future. What a good news!!
You will be immensely blessed as you cooperate with the retreat organizers and
consciously follow the leading of the Holy Spirit for an unusual encounter with God.
May the Lord use this time to open our eyes of understanding to behold Christ for our
change from one level of glory to another. Amen!
Remember, Christ in YOU, the hope of glory.
Happy Easter!!

LECTURE 1

CHRIST IN YOU: THE HOPE OF GLORY

Colossians 1:27

INTRODUCTION: It is unarguable I that one of the foremost desires of people today is

the desire to manifest glory, and this has also become one of the commonest prayer points in the
Church today. Almost everyone desires to manifest a form of glory and another. Meanwhile, the
word "glory" and its concept is one of the most grossly misunderstood or inadequately
comprehended in the Church today. Moreover, for glory to be manifested, its concept and its
means must be understood and appropriated. Therefore, having Christ in us is an epitome of
glory, though this is a mystery that cannot be explained in mere words but requires a deep
understanding through the help of the Holy Spirit and the word of God. This is what our lecture
intends to cover and uncover.

I pray that God grants us an unusual insight and understanding as we go on. Amen!

"To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among
the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:" (KJV) Colossians 1:27

In the Epistle to the Colossians, the Apostle Paul unveils a profound mystery for believers
the indwelling of Christ in their hearts, a revelation particularly significant for non-Jewish
followers known as Gentiles. The above passage articulates this mystery, representing a
departure from the Old Testament experience where the Holy Spirit's presence was temporary
and selective. Paul underscores the transformative nature of this revelation, emphasizing the
permanent indwelling of the Holy Spirit in New Testament believers a concept unfamiliar to the
saints of old. This marks the enduring presence of Christ within believers and serves as a seal of
our salvation, representing a divine guarantee (deposit) for a journey toward perfection, final
redemption, and eternal dwelling with the glorious Christ and the Father hereafter.

I. UNDERSTANDING GLORY

The word "glory" just like many other words has got different meanings and expressions,
depending on its concept. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines glory as a praise, honor, or
distinction extended by common consent, worshipful praise, honor, and thanksgiving, something
that secures praise or renown, a distinguished quality or asset, a state of great gratification or
exaltation, a height of prosperity or achievement.
While Webster Dictionary's definition is true, depending on the type of glory being
discussed, yet it must be noted that dictionary definition of glory is often limited, and will only
be fully understood when the biblical definition is considered.
The Bible further defines glory as the glorious moral attributes and the infinite
perfections of God (Isaiah 40:5; Acts 7:2; Romans 1:23; 9:23; Ephesians 1:12). Relevantly, the
Bible describes Jesus as the "brightness of the Father's glory" (Hebrews 1:3; John 1:14; 2:11) and
the bliss of heaven (Romans2:7 Romans 2:10; 5:2; 8:18; Hebrews 2:10; 1 Peter 5:11 Peter 5:10).
Hence, in the context of Colossians 1:27, the "glory" is not a transient or worldly
manifestation of success, pride or self aggrandizement. It is not tied to immediate, material
grandeur or external recognition. Instead, it is about a deeper and transcendent meaning the
deposit of our future state that all believers eagerly anticipate. This glory is therefore knitted and
connected to the transformative presence of Christ within our hearts as believers. So, the vision
of glory present here transcends worldly standards, grounded in the assurance that Christ's
indwelling presence holds the assurance of a future divine perfection and fulfillment for those
who believe.

II. UNDERSTANDING THE HOPE OF GLORY

Hope is often accompanied by expectation or belief in the possibility of promise
fulfillment or success at last. The hope of glory is the ultimate fulfillment of God's promise to
restore us and all creation.
"For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For
the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who
subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and
brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God." (Romans 8:19-21)
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after
that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you." (1 Peter 5:10).
This hope is not a wishful thought, but the confident, expectant, joyful knowledge that we
are being changed by God and will one day see Christ face to face, having been conformed to
His image (Romans 8:29; 1 John 3:2).

Our Salvation: The Basis of the Hope of Glory

The concept of salvation is oftentimes not fully understood by many believers. This, if
not given rapt attention will end up making a lot of people miss heaven. Every believer must
know that salvation is in three levels.

1. We have been saved (Justification)

We become saved the day we give our lives to Christ. This is instantaneous. It grossly
affects our spirit. It makes us who were once dead to come alive again. "For it is by grace you
have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" (Ephesians
2:8)

2. We are being saved (Sanctification)

This is progressive. It is also referred to as sanctification, and it involves our soul.

For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being
saved it is the power of God."(1 Corinthians 1:18)

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now
much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians
2:12

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being
transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord" 2
Corinthians 3:18

3. We shall be saved (Glorification)

This is futuristic. This involves the translation of our body, that is, the putting off of
mortality to taking up immortality. "By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word
I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain." (1 Corinthians 15:2) "You will be
hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."
(Matthew 10:22), if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;
(2 Timothy 2:12). The ultimate glory that God wants to reveal through Christ in us is this.

It is unfortunate that many believers today don't seek glorification which is prime and
ultimate. Just as the Terrestrial and the Celestial Glories have got their means so it is with the
Eternal Glory.

III. THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST IN YOU

Since Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree which God had forbidden, the glory of man
left. Adam and Eve had gone from the glory of walking with God to crouching down among the
leaves trying to hide themselves. So, a great separation had taken place between them and the
God of glory when they sinned. The glory - the full glory meant for them was lost.

Mankind lost the glory that day (Romans 3:23). In sin we lost the meaning of our
existence. We lost our significance. Man wanted to satisfy his hunger outside of God's will and
you cannot satisfy your human longings outside of God. It can't be done! The glory was gone.
Christ therefore became God's own packaged mystery to restore the lost man's glory-He was a
mystery as a grand and glorious secret of redemption.

The mystery of Christ's started at incarnation (when Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit;
Matthew 1: 18), emphasizing His unique union of being fully God and fully man. The death of
Christ was also a profound mystery, as the Son of God becomes a substitute for our sins (2
Corinthians 5:21 (NIV), bearing our punishment on the cross. The resurrection and ascension of
Christ was also a grand mystery, showcasing His triumph over death and His reign at the right
hand of God (Acts 1:9-11).

Then, at the point of our salvation, when we first receive Christ, The Lord makes His
presence visible in our body by the presence of the Holy Spirit (same as the Spirit of Christ)
(Romans 8:9-11 NIV) who enlightens individuals with the Word of God, making them spiritually
rich through this mystery.

So, if from Jesus' incarnation to resurrection and ascension, He was a mystery, receiving
Him as our Lord and savior by faith also bestowed upon us a mystery of His full glory and the
Glory of the father we have lost from the beginning, just as He was on earth and also now with
God in heaven. So, believers' hopes are expected to keep seeking heavenly things, knowing that
Christ, through the new birth, now lives within us, transforming our lives.

IV. CHRIST IN YOU: THE GREATEST MIRACLE

The grand mystery of Christianity is about "Christ in you (me), the hope of glory." This
means that Christ dwells within our hearts as Christians, providing a personal and intimate
relationship with Him. The preposition "in" is crucial, indicating an inner experience rather than
Christ being merely among people. The hope of glory for every Christian is this indwelling
presence of Christ.

This mystery is further explained in Ephesians 3:17, stating that Christ dwells in the
hearts of believers. This personal relationship with Christ is described as the central and great
truth, constituting the hope of glory, especially as Jesus is portrayed as the glorious manifestation
of God's presence, shining in the hearts of believers.

V. HOW CHRIST BECAME OUR HOPE OF GLORY

Unlike the Old Testament saints, New Testament believers have the Holy Spirit dwelling
in them permanently, sealing them for redemption. In essence, the presence of Christ within
believers signifies the hope of future glory, a truth laden with glorious riches. It signifies the
transformation of once dead spirits into vibrant life, assuring believers of a glorious existence
beyond earthly life.

Christ as our Hope of glory translates to these five manifolds of blessings:

1. Transformation and Restoration: The hope of glory encompasses the assurance that
believers will be transformed and restored to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29; 1 John 3:2).

2. Resurrection: It includes the hope of resurrection, as indicated in Romans 8:11, where

the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is promised to give life to believers mortal bodies.

3. Heavenly Inheritance: The hope of glory involves an inheritance kept in heaven for
believers, as stated in 1 Peter 1:3-4, which is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading.

4. Perfection and Conformity to Christ: The assurance that God will continue His work
in believers until they are perfected and conformed to the image of Christ (Philippians 1:6).
5. Ultimate Salvation: The presence of the Holy Spirit within believers serves as a seal,
guaranteeing their ultimate salvation and redemption (Ephesians 4:30).

VI. MEANS OF GLORY MANIFESTATION "To whom God would make known what
is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of
glory:" (Colossians 1:27).

The only means to the Eternal Glory is Christ in us. The next question is then, how is
Christ formed in us? Christ is formed in us through the following means:

1. Genuine Salvation: This is the starting point. This restores the lost image and likeness
of God to man. (John 3:16-18, Acts 16:30- 33, Romans 10:9-10, Hebrews 7:25)

2. Baptism of the Holy Spirit: This brings divinity into an individual. (John 3:5, Acts
19:2, Acts 1:8, Luke 24:49, Acts 19:6. Acts 2:1- 4)

3. The fruit of the Spirit: This enables an individual to manifest the attributes, character
and nature of God. (Galatians 5:22- 23, Ephesians 3:16-17)

4. Crucifixion of the flesh: This enables Christ to live through an individual (Matthew
16:24, Romans 6:6, Galatians 5:24, Ephesians 4:22, Colossians 3:5)

5. Manifestation of the nature of Christ: This is total submission to the reign of Christ
through an individual. (2 Corinthians 4:11. Gal. 3:20) This is ultimately revealed in our
obedience to every instruction of Christ. This includes:

6. Love for God: Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your mind. (Matthew 22:37)
7. Love for brethren: Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar.
For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God,
whom they have not seen. (1 John 4:20, 1 John 4:16,)

8. Love for enemies: "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor' and 'Hate
your enemy." But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you
may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and
sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." (Matthew 5:43-45).

This kind of life becomes magnetic, fulfills the earthly mandate of Christ and fulfills the
ultimate and eternal purpose of God which is our final restoration and that of all creation. Christ's
presence in us is the hope of such glory. We, who were once dead become alive once again and
the creation which was once subjected to futility now experiences freedom from its bondage to
decay and is now brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. "Beloved, now are
we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall
appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in
him purifieth himself, even as he is pure" (1 John 3:2-3). Also, we shall not only become like
Him, but we shall abide with Him forever in the fullness of His glory.

"Your sun will no longer set, and your moon will not wane; for the LORD will be your
everlasting light, and the days of your sorrow will cease' (Isaiah 60:20)

CONCLUSION

Beyond a spiritual encounter, the mystery around "Christ in you, the hope of glory"
carries profound implications for believers' now and future. The scripture presents the realities,
exploring the confident and joyful expectation rooted in God's promise of restoration for both
individuals aut creation.

Hence, the hope of glory extends to a five-fold blessing of transformation, restoration,

resurrection, heavenly inheritance, perfection and conformity to Christ: and ultimate salvation.
The hope is marked by the Holy Spirit's (Spirit of Christ's) presence as a deposit guaranteeing
our future experience.
Through this revealed mystery, the scripture underscores the transformative power of
Christ's indwelling, providing believers with an enduring source of hope, assurance, and the
expectation of a glorious destiny that surpasses earthly realities.

So the mystery means Christ is in all that believes; regardless of nationality, races, social,
political, educational and economic status, young or old is the same Christ in you. Same Christ in
me and you! That is our hope of glory. It is the only hope for the world in which we live. Do you
have that hope? Do you share that same present assurance and future expectation of glory of God
in Christ even from now? Do you have Christ dwelling within your heart? Do you have Christ in
you? You can begin right now as you receive the glory by faith, retain it in obedience to the
word, manifest it through the Holy Spirit and spread the glory by love towards others.
LECTURE 2

MODELING GODLY MARRIAGE IN THE 21ST

CENTURY

Genesis 2:18-25; Proverbs 18:22; Exodus 2:1;

Ephesians 5: 22-29 and Isaiah 60:1-2

INTRODUCTION

Marriage is gradually losing its divine purpose and many are considering it to be a
necessary evil. The reasons for this are many. Prominent among the reasons for these are a highly
mechanized pattern of life brought about by industrialization, urbanization which allow for
personal anonymity, increase mobility, diminishing sense of community and uncontrollable
information sharing due to the internet. Divorce has become the order of the day and more
appealing is the countless numbers who have not divorced, but are living a fake marriage, whose
marriage is just an empty shell, a grotesque caricature of the real, God instituted marriage. The
onus is now on us. Christians to show the world that blissful and godly marriage is possible in
this 21st century. The step by step instruction on how to do this is now our focus.

1. RIGHTLY SELECT MARRIAGE PARTNER

Selecting the right marriage partner is germane to having a godly model marriage. Note
the following in relation to selecting a marriage partner.

a. When is one ready for Christian courtship?

It is hard to put an age limit on when to begin Christian courtship.

It is useful to follow the following criteria.

* One who is physically, mentally. socially, spiritually and emotionally and financially
mature

• One who is praying and seeking God's will for marriage

* One who understand what commitment in a serious relationship is and ready to

comply.

* One who prioritize achievement in line with God's purpose.

* One who differentiate between vision and television

b. How to know whom to marry?

God does usually not show us by strange signs whom we should marry. But as we grow
in our Christian walk, our decisions will be based on wisdom from God rather than fleeting
emotions. It is also helpful to seek counsel from our mature Christian leaders who would make
sure that our emotions are not leading us into hasty irrational decisions.

Here are a few tips (not exhaustive) that can help you determine if the person fits well
with you.

* Is he or she a Christian? (2 Corinthians 6:14)

* Is this person growing in his/her faith or is he/she stagnant? Consider his/her spiritual
devotion when making your decision. Is he/her rooted in the Word of God? How is his/her prayer
life? Does he/she frequently attend worship services? Do you see evidence of the fruit of the
Spirit (Galatians 5:22- 23)? Do you trust this person? How is his/her character? Look at his
relationships with others. Is he well regarded by everyone he/she encounters? Does he/she
respect others (1 Peter 2:17)?

* Do you like this person? Do you enjoy spending time with him or her? Can you be
friends, not just lovers?

* Will this person be able to fulfill his or her God-given role in marriage? Will he be a
good husband/wife and a good father/mother for your children?

* Seek the opinion of friends and family those who know you best-whether or not they
think your potential girlfriend/boyfriend is right for you? Though your friends could certainly be
wrong, they may be able to provide some insight into the situation that you may not be able to
see.

• The following are possible means of divine guidance on this issue: The word of God,
Inner witness and or restrain of the Holy spirit, Divinely arranged situations, Spirit filled leaders
and friends counsel, dreams, vision etc.

* Before taking final decision, get the consent of God, Pastor (spiritual Leader) and your
Parents.

* Propose and accept proposal in a decent and godly manner. Neither should be a threat,
coerced or forced.

2. RIGHTLY RELATE BEFORE MARRIAGE (This is courtship)

a. COURTSHIP DEFINED

* Courtship is an interval, time frame or time gap between when a Christian lady says
yes to a marriage proposal from a Christian brother, after each of them might have been
convinced that they are ready to go onward into marriage. Courtship begins when two people of
the opposite genders agree to take a step towards marriage; it ends on the day when the dowry
must have been paid. The foundation of marriage is laid during courtship not inside marriage.
Repairing a aulty foundation is always very difficult after the house has been built.

* Courtship is a deliberate controlled step towards marriage. Although not all courtship
ends in marriage, the primary purpose of courtship is that it ends in marriage. It is not something
you just wake up one day and venture into or something you embark on during the surge of your
sexual urge. It is a deliberate decision. Courtship is a relationship between a mature brother and a
mature lady and the initial and ultimate goal is marriage.

* Courtship may be defined as a mutual commitment made between a man and a woman
to meet regularly for the purpose of knowing each other better and seeking God's will with the
aim of marriage one day if it is His divine will. We should include here that there should be a
clear understanding that if the courtship does not work out, both persons are to be mature enough
to part as friends without resentment and with all due respect for each other's feelings.

b. PRINCIPLES OF COURTSHIP

These principles have been summarized in Leave Dating Behind: a Road Map to
Marriage by Christina Rogers within the acronym CARE:

* Commitment to marriage

* Accountability

* Rejection of the secular dating philosophy

* Establishing physical
boundaries

c. CHARACTERISTICS OF CHRISTIAN COURTSHIP

The responsibility of parents to prepare their children for marriage in all respects, and for
youths to be prepared in terms of talents, education, vocation and finances prior to seeking a
courtship relationship.

* The mentoring role of parents or other suitable "accountability couples" in a given

courtship.

* Supervision of courtships to mitigate temptations or abuse, whether of a sexual,

emotional or financial nature.

* Emphasis of the importance of marriage as an opportunity for Christian service rather

than a selfish endeavour.

* Emphasis of the importance of singleness before marriage as a time for greater

Christian service in the community, rather than a time to be employed in selfish pursuits.

* Emphasis of the importance of counsel and evaluation by family and friends as a

relationship progresses. (Song of Songs 1:4) Emphasis of the importance of honesty and getting
to know one another as real people in "normal life" during courtship (as contrasted with the
dating habit of meeting during special events and entertainment while on one's best behaviour.)

* The maintenance of sexual purity in accordance with the apostolic counsel of chastity.

d. Dangers of Worldly Practices of Dating/Courtship

The worldly practices of dating or courtship will lead to:

• Physical intimacy but not necessarily to marital commitment.

•Mistaking a physical relationship for love.

* Isolation of a couple from other vital relationships with others.

• Distraction of young adults from their primary responsibility of preparing for the Lord's
use in the future.

* Developing a self-centered, feeling-oriented concept of love.

• Teaching people to break off relationships easily, conditioning them more for divorce
than marriage.

• Developing an appetite for variety and change in relationships, creating dissatisfaction

within marriage.

• Promoting lust and immoral habits, opening the door for sin.

Here are some practical rules to consider that may be helpful:

e. THE DOS AND DONTS OF CHRISTIAN COURTSHIP Things to DO

1. You must be willing and teachable; seek parental guidance and advice from your
church leaders (i.e. pastors. elders and deacons). Freely interact with godly married couples and
observe their marriage lifestyle and family life.

2. Ask sensible questions about each other's convictions, values, aspirations and other
pertinent matters to prepare you for marriage.
3. Learn more of each other in areas of communication, spiritual convictions, working
life, church ministry and family background.

4. Pray often together for loved ones and the church. Consider going on organized

5. Avoid unedifying films, videos, worldly magazines or unwholesome jokes or books

that might encourage erotic relationship (2 Timothy 2:22).

6. Dress modest'v for the date (1 Pet 3:3, 4). Do not wear plunging necklines, mini skirts
and tempting/sensuous attires that will not be edifying but rather hinder healthy relationships.

7. As for overseas holidays, go in a group and not just the two of you only. Do not be a
bad influence to each other and others or even cause the other to fall into sin. (1 Corinthians 8:9)

8. When visiting each other's home, ensure someone is at home. Keep your rooms open
so that you will not be in absolute privacy.

9. Be not involved in the worldly environment of revelry and pleasure such as watching
immoral films, partying, alcohol consumption and dancing.

10. Prepare and plan to have a reasonable courtship of at least 2- 3 years (it is difficult to
know someone well in a short time e.g. 6 months). Do not be influenced by the worldly system
of infidelity and a one-night-stand syndrome. (1 Timothy 6:6-10, 2 Timothy 2:22, Galatians 5:19-
21,) That which grows slowly, endures.

LECTURE 3 LIVING FOR HIS ETERNAL

GLORY

1 Peter 5:6-10, Hebrews 12:1-2, 2 Corinthians

4:17-18, 2Timothy 4:6-8

INTRODUCTION

Man is never an accident of sexual union as God; the Creator was very intentional and
purposeful about man's creation, existence and redemption. The Creator of the whole universe,
the Almighty God, has a definite purpose for the existence of every human being that enters this
planet called Earth. God wants man to show forth His glory in this world. For those of us who
have accepted Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Saviour, the purpose of our call out of the world
to the kingdom of God is well outlined and defined as recorded in 1Peter 2:9 "But ye are a
chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew
forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."

So, it is very crucial for man to know the reason for his existence. Our Lord Jesus Christ
knew the reason for His coming and that was what informed and determined the way He lived
His life while He was here on earth. In John 17:3, Jesus clearly defined the reason for His living
thus: "... that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Therefore, according to the topic, "Living for His Eternal Glory," Christians who have
genuinely given their lives to Christ. redeemed by His blood and welcomed to the
commonwealth of God are clearly informed about the reason for their existence and the ultimate
aim of their existence. What should be their pursuit for living and how to achieve it?

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Living: Living refers to the action of being alive. It is a verb that implies an ongoing
activity or state of existence. It can also refer to the act of surviving or subsisting. The word
"living" refers to the state or condition of being alive. It can also refer to the way in which
someone lives, including lifestyles, habits and activities or deeds.

Living in this sense means a life style that brings glory to the name of the Lord. Not all
life styles are pleasing to God. Therefore, there is a particular life style that brings glory to God
and such is patterned after Christ's likeness.

Eternal: The word 'eternal' implies endless, everlasting, perpetual, lasting or going on
without ceasing. It refers to that which is eternal by its nature, without beginning or end. That
which is endless never stops but goes on continuously as if in a circle: an endless succession of
years. The Bible mentions some of the things. that are eternal. God Himself is eternal and His
words are eternal. "Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens" (Psalm 119:89).
"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever" (Isaiah 40:8).
"I the Lord do not change" (Malachi 3:6). "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will
never pass away" (Matthew 24:35).
Glory: According to Kimberley Payne, "The word "glory" is used over 600 times in the
Bible. It has so many meanings from the original languages of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek such
as worth, splendor, dignity, honour, and value. Also, it refers to God's greatness and majesty. It
describes how Christians can be changed and it is also a synonym for heaven.

ETERNAL GLORY

Eternal glory is the glory that Christ shared with His father before the creation of the
world. The eternal glory is uncreated; majestic beauty and splendour beyond anything.

LIVING FOR GOD'S GLORY

Living with every consciousness that the Lord is watching you to please Him in all you
do.

WHY BELIEVERS NEED TO LIVE FOR HIS ETERNAL GLORY

Living for His eternal glory must be a daily vital pursuit for every child of God. If truly
you have been redeemed by His blood, and you are purchased through the same blood, you no
longer own yourself. Hence, you cannot live life that is pleasing to you but to Him that owns you
that is, Christ Jesus.

1. It is the mandate of calling out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9-10

2. Shining the light of Christ compels the gentiles to glorify God.

3. It is the practical way of expressing Christianity to be our real profession as we

journey in this life. Acts 11:26

4. It is a proof that we are true followers of Christ.

5. The resurrected life is made manifest by living for His glory.

6. It is the essence of the new birth. 2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 6:4

7. It prepares us ready to be transformed into glory with Him when He appears.

Colossians 3:1-3

8. It is an established evidence of a crucified life. Galatians 2:20, Romans 6:11

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WHO LIVED FOR HIS GLORY

There are many individuals in the Bible that lived their lives for the glory of God. They
are not spirits but human beings like you and me.

1. Abraham: Abraham was God's friend and the father of faith. He was raised by a pagan
parent. His parent never knew God. How he got to know God was not known, yet he obeyed God
when he was commanded to leave his father's house Genesis 12:2. With obedience to His Word,
he was able to live his life for the eternal glory of God Almighty the maker of heaven and earth.

2. Noah: Noah found himself in a generation that did not know God, but he distinguished
himself out and God favoured him- Genesis 6:5-6. Despite the wickedness of man during his
time, he was found by God to be just and perfect-Genesis 6:9.

3. Joseph: He was a youth when he was sold into slavery. Even though he was in a
foreign land, yet he kept the law of God. Genesis 39:8 'There is no one greater in this house than
I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do
this great wickedness and sin against God. His life was lived for His glory.
4. Jesus Christ: "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy
that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand
of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2)

Let us learn from our Lord Jesus Christ, the express image of God, the father who lived
His life here on earth to glorify God. He willingly dropped His heavenly glory and came to
redeem mankind through the sacrifice of His life. He avoided every distraction, but focused on
the cross to shed His blood knowing fully that God will be glorified by it.

As we are celebrating His death and resurrection during this Easter, we see a life worthy
of emulation as we pursue living for eternal glory. Apostle Paul understood the importance of
glory. Hence, he admonished the Philippian brethren that the mind of living for God's eternal
glory should be in them.

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 2:5)

5. Apostle Paul: He was formerly known as Saul the persecutor of the brethren. He met
Christ on his way to Damascus.

Acts 9:3-4 As he journeyed he came near Damascus and suddenly a light shone around
him from heaven; then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, 'Saul, Saul, why
are persecuting Me'?.

From that moment his life was changed and lived the rest of his life pursued the purpose
of God in taken kingdoms and territories for God. He became so consumed with this noble and
divine course of living for God's glory that he counted all things to be nothing including his life
in order to please God.

In 2 Timothy 4:6-8: "For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at
hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth
there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give
me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." Paul wrote
these final words as an encouragement to Timothy who was being left to continue the work from
where he stopped. The work must continue until the Lord returns. We must continue to preach,
reprove, rebuke, and exhort with great patience and commitment. We must continue to strive,
running the race and be on our guard as we are waiting for our Lord's return who is coming to
reign and rule.

6. Apostle Peter: Peter a coward who later became a brave man. He was a prominent
leader among the Disciples of Christ. He was highly dedicated and committed to the gospel of
our Lord throughout his life time and to the glory of God.

7. Job: It is worthy of note that the story of Job is recorded in the Old Testament (Job
19:25-27). Although he did not live in the dispensation of grace, he still believed that he would
see his redeemer after death. All his suffering and trouble could not hinder him from living a
righteous life. His wife asked him to misbehave to God but because of the eternal glory waiting
for him after this world, he refused to sin. Brethren, how are you living your life in this trying
period? Your suffering of now should not affect your way of life.

8. Dorcas: The life of Sister Dorcas was such that glorify God, event at death, people
gave testimonies about her godly life, good works and charitable deeds upon which they
appealed to Peter to come and pray for her. Acts 9:35-39

HOW TO LIVE FOR HIS GLORY

Apostle Peter in 1 Pet. 5:6-10 clearly states how Christians can live for the glory of God
in Christ Jesus.

a. Practically express Christ's pattern of humility and total submission as required by

God (vs 6).

b. Live your life in view of eternity. Do not be weighed down by things of the world. Do
not be anxious about anything (Philippians 4:6-7). Do not be distracted by mundane things. Be
focused!
c. Be careful and watchful in all that pertain to life and godliness.

"Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring a lion,
seeking whom he may devour"! Peter5:8

The devil and all his agents are around to distract you. In the wilderness, he tried the
same thing with Jesus Christ so that He will not be able to get back to His previous position in
heaven. However, he was totally defeated by Christ on the cross when He said; "It is finished"
(vs 8, Matthew 4:1-11).

d. Live a life of endurance and perseverance. Know that the affliction of the present
cannot be compared to the eternal glory in future. Also, what you are facing now is not peculiar
to you alone. Therefore, be steadfast in faith (vs. 9). Romans 8:18-19 presents it very clearly:
"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the
glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the
manifestation of the sons of God."

e. Depend totally on the grace of God God's grace will perfect, establish, strengthen and
settle you for Christ's coming. God told Paul that His grace is sufficient for him to live for
Christ's eternal glory. (2 Cor. 12:9-10)

f. Live a holy life

"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord"
(Hebrew 2:14).

No unholy thing will behold His eternal glory. Sola Allyson sang "Oju elese kole ri ogo
re." Meaning no sinner will behold the glory of God. As a follower of Christ, you need to run
away from every unclean thing.

"Therefore, come out from among them, And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch
what is unclean, And I will receive you". 2 Corinthians 6:17
g. Live a Spirit-filled and a Spirit- controlled life (Romans 8:14).

h. Go extra miles in following Christ. Launch into the deep and go a little yonder
(Genesis 22:5).

i. Permanent death to sin, self, Satan and worldly pleasure. But she who lives in pleasure
is dead while she lives. I Timothy 5:6

It was said of Moses that; he chose to suffer affliction with the people of God than to
enjoy the passing pleasures of sin. Hebrews 11:25

j. Lastly, always seek things above (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). "If ye then be risen with
Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your
affection on things above, not on things on the earth." (Colossians 3:1-2)

CONCLUSION

Therefore, when He came into the world, He said "Sacrifice You did not desire, But a
body You have prepare for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure.
Then I said, Behold, I have come -In the volume of the book it is written of Me- To do your will,
O God. Hebrews 10:5-7 2 Peter 1:17, Matthew 17:5

Our Lord Jesus Christ has laid a very good example for us by His voluntary death on the
cross. pouring out the entire blood in his physical body to pay for the sin of the whole world in
obedience to his father and also to be able to recover His eternal glory in full. Philippians 2:5ff
Therefore, we should also live our lives in anticipation to behold, receive and enter into His
eternal glory when He appears the second time. May God bless you all.
LECTURE 4

THE EARTHLY RELEVANT YOUTH JOSEPH,

DAVID & DANIEL MODEL

Daniel 11:32, Matthew 5:13-16, 1 Peter 2:9

INTRODUCTION
The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is not only a demonstration of His power over
death but an expression of His power to make believers to prevail over all forms limitations for
the establishment of the Kingdom of God in the heart of men and on the earth (Matthew 6:10).
The good news of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a major component of the Gospel of
Salvation, which focuses on the transformation of individual in relationship with God, on the
other hand, the Gospel of the Kingdom emphasizes the societal transformation through the
establishment of Godly principles and practices by individual and collective efforts of Christians
in any given society. The desire of the Lord Jesus Christ is to see the earth full of His knowledge
and His glory (Isaiah 11:9, Matthew 6:10; Matthew 5:16, 1 Corinthians 10:31).

For this desire of the Lord to be achieved, every genuine child of God must see it as their
responsibility and reason to be relevant on earth (2 Corinthians 5:18-19, 1 Peter 2:9).

This profound topic resonates through the corridors of history and beckons to the very
essence of our existence: Earthly Relevant Christian Youth The likes of Joseph, David, and
Daniel Model is timely. In a world where the demands of the present meet the challenges of the
future, we look to the timeless templates (Bible) for Christian youths seeking not just relevance
but a transformative impact in the diverse arenas of our society. We shall consider the topic from
the following perspectives.
A. What is Earthly Relevance?

When we refer to a Christian being "earthly relevant," we are expressing the idea that the
individual is actively engaged and impactful in the tangible, everyday aspects of life on Earth. It
implies that the Christian is not only focused on spiritual matters or concerns related to the
afterlife but is also committed to making a positive and meaningful difference in the present
world. It means a Christian youth being actively participating in activities that address real-world
problems, such as poverty, injustice, and social issues. An earthly relevant youth must be
spiritual and skillful to be used as Christ transformation agents in various societal spheres and
systems, all for Jesus Christ to be magnified and to the glory of God (Matthew 5:16, 1
Corinthians 10:31).

The mandate for Christians to be earthly relevant are all over the Bible and Jesus
emphasizes it in the following analogies;

* Salt and Light Analogy In Matthew 5:13-16, Christians are described as the "salt of the
earth" and the "light of the world." This implies a responsibility to bring positive influence and
illumination to the world.

* Good Works for Others In Matthew 5:16; Ephesians 2:10, Christians are encouraged to
let their light shine through good works, positively impacting others and contributing to the
welfare of society.

* Love and Compassion In Matthew 22:39; 1 Corinthians 16:14, Christians are called to
love their neighbors and demonstrate compassion. actively engaging in acts of kindness and
service to meet the needs of those around them. People that cross your path in life must be
grateful to God for having such an opportunity and not regretting meeting you in life.

* Social Justice and Advocacy - Proverbs 31:8-9; Micah 6:8 The Bible emphasizes the
importance of seeking justice, defending the oppressed, and acting with kindness and humility.
* Transformative Influence In Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 5:17, Christians are called to
be transformed by the renewing of their minds and to be agents of positive change in
transforming the culture of the world system.

C. Strategic Societal spheres and systems that Christian Youth should be involved in to
influence positively

In Matthew 5:13-14, Jesus described Christians as the "salt of the earth" and the "light of
the world." In this context "earth" can be understood as referring to the people or inhabitants of
the world, and "world" can be understood as encompassing the systems and structure of
operations of the world. The primary focus is on the transformative influence Christians to have
on both individuals and the broader societal system and structures. It's about bringing positive
change, preserving moral values, and illuminating the world with the principles of love, justice,
and righteousness. The following are strategic areas of spheres, systems and structures Christians
should be involved to influence positively.

1. Tech-World Christian youths need to embrace technology as a tool for positive

change. Christian youths should be involved developing technology, fostering innovation and
developing solutions that align with Christian values to shape and solve human problems. From
developing faith-based apps to using technology for community outreach, the possibilities are
vast.

2. Agriculture Initiatives Christian youths can contribute to agriculture by exploring and

implementing eco-friendly farming methods, addressing issues related to food security,
environmental conservation, and community resilience. Youths should invest in agriculture
businesses that contribute to economic development, job creation, and social impact while
upholding Christian values.

3. Entrepreneurship Christian youths should pursue entrepreneurship with a focus on

ethical business practices, emphasizing the importance of business ventures that align with
Christian values. They should create businesses that contribute to economic development, job
creation, and social impact while upholding Christian values.

4. Social Engineering for Community Development Christian youths should involve in

social engineering projects that target community development. This could include initiatives
that address poverty, education, and healthcare, emphasizing the Christian commitment to social
justice.

5. NGO Advocacy

Christian youths should be motivated to actively participate in or establish non-

governmental organizations (NGOs) addressing societal causes and transformation. Encourage
participation in non- governmental organizations dedicated to causes such as human rights,
education, and healthcare, poverty alleviation, and other social issues. Christian youths can bring
a unique perspective to these organizations, infusing them with values of compassion and
service.

6. Small-Scale Ventures

Promote the establishment of small-scale businesses within Christian communities. These

ventures can address local needs, create employment opportunities, and contribute to economic
stability.
7. Christian Ethics in the Corporate World

Christian youths should bring their Christ-life and faith into the corporate world.
Christian youth should work with integrity, honesty, and compassion, fostering ethical corporate
cultures, by these they can contribute to a work environment that values integrity, compassion,
profit and social responsibility.

8. Artistic Expression for Positive Change

Encourage Christian youths to use their artistic talents for social impact. Whether through
visual arts, music, or theater, they can create works that inspire positive change and reflect
Christian values.

9. Media Influence for Good

Christian youths should make a positive impact in the media industry. Whether in
journalism, film making, or social media, they can use these platforms to spread messages of
hope, love. and justice and countering negative narratives, creating content that reflects Christian
values, and addresses societal issues.

10. Governance

Like Daniel, Christian youths should be engaged to be involved in governance in all

forms and across levels with a focus on justice and equity. By participating in politics and civic
leadership, they can advocate for policies that reflect Christian values and promote the common
good. Christian youths are encouraged to explore innovative governance models. This could
involve advocating for participatory governance, transparency, and accountability in public
institutions.

In conclusion, the Earthly Relevant Youth, embodying the essence of being salt and light,
stands at the forefront of societal transformation. As ambassadors of Jesus Christ; the Hope of
Glory, we are not expected to be mere spectators but active participants in the unfolding narrative
of positive change. With unwavering faith, we are to illuminate the darkest corners with the light
of compassion, justice, and love, while our influence, akin to salt, preserves the moral fabric of
society. From now, our actions should resonate beyond the temporal, echoing the eternal hope
found in Christ. In a world yearning for purpose, solutions and direction, the Youths of CAC
emerge as a beacon, a testament to the transformative power of Jesus Christ in action, radiating
the hope of glory to a waiting world.

God." Romans 8:19

BIBLE STUDY

WEALTH CREATION: CHRIST- CENTERED

APPROACHES
Isaiah 26:1-15, Deuteronomy. 8:18, Psalms 112:1-5. 2 Corinthians.8:9

INTRODUCTION

Our God is wealthy and He is the Almighty, "El-Shaddai"; all- sufficient God. 1
Chronicles 29:12, Psalms 24:1, Gen 17:1. He wants His children to be wealthy (Psalm 112:3)
and also wants us to have sufficient provision of all good things at all times, and not lack
anything good. 2 Corinthians 9:8. He wants His children to possess wealth, not to become
liabilities to anyone, or even borrow for living. Deuteronomy 28:12.

While it is God's will for us to operate in wealth and abundance, it takes more than
wishful thinking and prayer to be wealthy. Wealth creation is a combination of prayers and
positive steps/strategies.
CHRIST-CENTERED APPROACHES

There are a lot of get-rich-quick schemes that are ungodly and unscriptural. As a
genuinely born-again child of God, you must not engage in any wealth creation approach that is
against God's standard of holiness, righteousness, and truthfulness. Jeremiah 17:11. You must not
acquire wealth that can make you incur God's wrath and take you to hellfire. 1 Timothy 6:9-12.

The following are some of the steps you must take if you will create godly wealth, using
Christ-centered approaches.

1. Acquire Financial Intelligence

There is no formal finance school where we learn about financial techniques; hence many
of us are naive about financial issues. Many of us acquire our present financial information
attitude from our parents, society, and environment, but some of them are wrong and
unprogressive.

Many of us have taken financial steps, spent money, and done things that are injurious
and dangerous to us financially because we are ignorant. "Nothing is as terrible as an act of
ignorance". It is better to learn before you earn. Children and youths should be rightly informed
in this regard.

Take positive steps every day to improve your financial intelligence. Buy and read books
on money and finances, business, and investments. Read financial newspapers, and listen to
tapes on finances, businesses, and investments. Attend finance seminars and workshops.
Proverbs 1:5, 10:4, 15:22.

2. Work to earn money and to learn.

Make use of your education, training, knowledge, skills, information, and connections to
generate income. This can be done in four ways.
i. Work somewhere to earn a salary or commission.

ii. You can be self-employed.

iii. You can combine a salary job with self-employment.

iv. Work in an unstructured manner as an occasional entrepreneur or a freelancer.

3. Develop multiple streams of income. Genesis 2:10-14.

You must have more than one source of income to be wealthy, Relying on mono income
is not good for an individual or a family.

Reasons for Multiple Streams of Income

I. One source may not/cannot effectively take care of your expenses.

ii. There may be a great problem if that source stops for one reason or the other. e.g.
downsizing. economic/business failure, a collapse of companies, etc.

iii. Individuals and families on multiple streams move faster to achieve their goals.

Take Note:

a. Don't be one-sided in generating your income, seek to diversify your efforts. You can
explore areas relevant to, or within your present job, career, or business venture and it can also be
different areas.
b. Update your knowledge in your discipline/field of study.

c. Seek to start a new trade, business, etc. that is in line with your present work. E.g.
teaching and catering, teaching and coaching lessons, events planning, rental services,
decorations, making of hats, beads, etc.

d. Go and learn a new skill, vocation or trade. Don't be ashamed to start any kind of legal
business. Do away with high social status; come down from your self- imposed height.

e. Seek to start your own business or become an entrepreneur while still employed. Self-
employment is always the best.

f. Create something and sell something. You can always fix your price and pay yourself.

g. Your attempts might be rough at the beginning but later they will yield profits for you.

TIPS ON STARTING A NEW BUSINESS VENTURE

To start a business venture; explore areas of people's needs, especially unmet needs in
society. Ask yourself the following questions:

i. What do people need in your area?

ii. What are they traveling too far to get?

iii. What comes late often? iv. What do they pay too high for?

v. What comes in an unsatisfactory outlook? E.g. public schools versus private schools.
vi. Which services need improvement? Remember the snail speed services of old
generation banks in Nigeria and the operations of the new generation banks.

4. Identify your uniqueness passion, talents, and gifts, then turn it into money. Develop
money-making scheme around those things.

i. Your financial abundance is tied to your gifts. You can only succeed and generate
wealth successfully in something you have passion for. E.g. medical field, singing, painting,
engineering, graphics, artworks, etc.

ii. Don't dwell on your areas of weakness to make money. Discover yourself, your
potentials, strengths, and interests. Naturally, you are happy when you are operating in the area
of your passion, gifts, or potentials. Many people work without being happy and with this
attitude, you can't make real success and create wealth.

ADVICE FOR PARENTS:

Parents should help their children in this area. Let us help and guide our
children to discover themselves and their passions/gifts. Luke 2:18-19, John 2:1-5. 5.
Cultivate Excellence.

✓ Develop expertise in your area of gifting/callings. Acquire more training and

education. Aim to be the best you can be, shun mediocrity. Genesis 1:31, Mark 7:370.

✓ Everyone loves and appreciates excellence. Excellence makes you stand out. Job
22:29.

✓ Haphazard jobs send people away from you. It affects your reputation and makes you
lose prospective clients.
6. Learn to save money.

It will be difficult, even almost impossible for you to create wealth if you are unable to
save money.

✓ Cultivate the habit of saving money, not just for the rainy day but for profitable
investments.

✓ Put it in a special account for accumulation. For example, N3,000 per month for 10
years becomes N360, 000 and N5, 000 for 10 years becomes N600,000.

✓ Whenever there is an increase, do not increase your standard of living immediately.

Save the increase for some time and afterwards, you invest it or do something tangible with it.
Proverbs 23:5. You must know that some riches are just for a season, they may not flow
continuously.

✓ Experience the pain of discipline today or the pain of regret tomorrow.

Unexpected income comes with unexpected expenditure. Ecclesiastes 5:11. Try and beat
Parkinson's Law which says 'expenses rise to meet income'.

When money comes, refuse to give in to the temptation of buying this and that things that
are not necessary and important; e.g. clothing, shoes, furniture, electronics, kitchen wares, parties
and merry-making, socializing, handsets, la, tops, iPads, new cars, etc.

Learn and apply the saving principle of Joseph (Genesis 41:33-36). Do not eat your seed
because that is your future.

HOW TO SAVE MONEY FOR INVESTMENT PURPOSES

I. Open and operate an account in a bank.

ii. Open special savings schemes for yourself and your children.

iii. Make use of fixed accounts and other special packages in banks and finance
institutions.

iv. Invest in real estate properties and houses. landed

v.Invest in the stock market/shares, treasury bills, etc. Consult stockbrokers and experts in
this field.

vi. Start a business venture.

vii. Start a profitable business and build your house before you buy a vehicle for personal
use unless it is strictly for a business venture. The reason is that the car is a liability that will
increase your expenses.

viii. Join a cooperative and thrift society.

7. Develop Financial Discipline.

"A man without discipline will die without honour". Many people lack financial
discipline, hence they are bankrupt. With financial discipline, low-income earners can achieve
great things. With financial discipline, many people will be on the path to wealth creation; they
will also retain and sustain wealth.

The problem of many poor people is not money, it is a lack of financial discipline,
unwillingness to defer gratification, and the habit of getting all and spending all, with no savings.
The first way to exercise financial discipline is to learn to save money. Because of our
poverty level and low income many of us find it hard to save. Others, because they are addicted
to a high standard of living find it difficult to save. However, the lesser you save the more
poverty increases for you.

8. Develop Financial Wisdom. Proverbs 24:3-6, 2:10-11. Financial wisdom is the ability
to spend one's income or resources wisely in such a way that it will eventually enhance one's
future wealth. Many people do not spend wisely hence they easily go bankrupt. Financial
wisdom demands financial planning and monitoring.

Tips on Financial Wisdom

i. Take a record of your daily spending this helps accountability and stops excesses.

ii. Be accountable to yourself and others (Spouse). Calculate your daily, weekly, and
monthly expenses.

iii. Spend on your needs and not wants. A sachet of water is a need while a bottle of coke
is a 'want';
simple clothing is a need, while designers' wear is a 'want'. Live within or below your
means per time.

iv.Spend more on assets than liabilities. Assets are things that produce money for you.
E.g. Business enterprise, landed properties, and business ventures. Liabilities are things that take
money away from you, e.g. smartphone, clothing, car. electronic gadgets, TV, Star Times, GO
TV, and DSTV.

v. Maintain your size per time maintain a simple lifestyle in feeding, housing,
entertainment of guests, parties, and ceremonies, and purchase of electronics and vehicles.

vi. Avoid impulse spending and purchase. Ask questions before you purchase anything.
Ask yourself, do I need this thing? Don't buy because of mere interest, pleasure, or just for
pilling up. Categorize your expenses into essentials, important, and nice things. Make use of the
scale of preference and deep thinking.

vii. Don't impress or satisfy others to your disadvantage E.g. in the entertainment of
guests, parties and socializing, use of cars, phones, housing, etc.

viii. Don't engage in unhealthy competition with anyone.

ix. Avoid debt by all means. However, you can obtain loans for business and investment
purposes.

x. Be a committed giver. Pay your tithes and offerings and also give to your Pastors and
the less privileged. Malachi 3:8-12, Proverbs 11:24-25.

xi. Pray for divine ideas that generate wealth. Deuteronomy 8:18, Isaiah 45:3. E.g., New
strategies. methods, and systems. innovations/creativity, what to embark upon, pray for open
eyes, ears, and mind. Matthew 13:10- 13,16.

CONCLUSION:

Your ability to understand and do all that we have stated in this teaching will help you a
lot to create and retain wealth and thereby showcase God's glory in the world. Isaiah 60:1-5, 11.

SHARE & CARE

1. I am a committed Christian sister in a relationship with a Christian brother who I also

met in the church. Now it's time for us to get married and my fiance is insisting we opt for court
wedding rather than church wedding. By this, we will only go to court registry and no church
wedding and all the celebrations. Though my parents are not kicking against that decision but I
love church wedding. What should I do?

2 My mother has been mounting pressure on me to go out and make money so as to take
the family out of poverty. Now, I have some friends who are into Yahoo Yahoo and are very rich.
They are ready to train me freely on how to make money like them. Although I grew up under
thorough Sunday school trainings that forbid making money through dubious means but the
pressure and tension from home are really getting on my nerves, and now I'm confused, what
should I do?

3 My unit head in the church is a vibrant and word filled brother. However, I am privy to
his secret that he has another illicit wife outside with a child and he is running two homes
together. He got to know that I'm aware of his double dealing; he had invited me to narrate how
the whole thing happened. Now, do I expose him to the church or continue to keep silent? I used
to be blessed by his ministration but now I only see a filthy and immoral man whenever he is
ministering. The fact that I am aware of his double life which I cannot relate to anyone keeps
haunting me, coupled with his incessant threats. What is the best way to act on this as a Christian
lady?

4. am a university graduate with a degree in sciences. Though I wasn't given my desired

course in school at the point of entry, rather I was given another course to study, due to Nigerian
factor which makes admission rather uneasy, I accepted the course. Now I am a graduate and
have a passion to pursue a career which is not even related to the course in which I have obtained
a degree. Is it possible to switch careers considering that I have no preliminary background
needed for that course of study? And if possible to switch, how can I achieve this?

5. I was a vibrant and firebrand Christian when I was as younger. But now I am engaged
with a lot of activities such as marriage, my career, my family and other engagements. Somehow,
I keep feeling guilty that I have forsaken my first love for Christ. Most times in my spirit, I know
I should pray but it is usually difficult to do that. I was accustomed to studying the word, but
now it doesn't happen anymore. While I know I should carry out these spiritual exercises, the
various events of my life always keep me busy. How do I overcome these challenges? I really
wish to go back to my good old days when I was vibrant for Christ but I don't know how I can
achieve this, considering my many engagements at this point of my life.
