Radiation Heat transfer is defined as the transfer of energy across a system boundary by means of
an electromagnetic mechanism which is caused solely by a temperature difference.
Where as the heat transfer due to conduction and convection takes place only in the presence of
medium, radiation heat transfer does not require a medium and can travel through vacuum also.

Surface emission properties
The rate of emission of radiation by a body depends upon the following factors:
1) The temperature of the surface
2) The nature of the surface
3) The wavelength or frequency of Radiations
Parameters which deals with the surface emission properties are given below:
1) Total emissive power
2) Monochromatic emissive power
3) Emissivity
1. Total Emissive power
2. Monochromatic emissive power
3. Emissivity
Absorptivity, Reflectivity and Transmissivity
