What is included in a Business report?

Throughout the business report it is important to constantly
refer to the business by name, relate everything back to the
business not the business in general and relate back to the
purpose of the report and question. You need to make sure
you are using business terminology throughout the report.
Executive summary
The purpose of the executive summary is to provide a brief
overview of the business issues, what the report will cover
and the purpose of the report.
Example:
Will and Peter are a growing fashion company. The Company is currently
experiencing a decrease in employees’ opportunity due to increase demand in
sales. Therefore, the Will and Peter have hired a consultant to commission a
report. This report will:
Identify the four stakeholders which include their internal employees a
managers, customers and suppliers.
This report will explain one external influence which is government
regulations and one internal influence which is business culture
This report will discuss the partnership legal structure in the business
Executive Summary
This report has been written for the management of Privacy Blinds and Shutters Pty Ltd. Privacy Blinds
and Shutters Pty Ltd is a small sized business which has been operating for the last 3 years. Privacy Blinds
and shutters are currently at their growth stage of business cycle; however, the business has been
encountering certain concerns such as the re-examination of the business culture to ensure future success
and the possibility of incoming low economic activity, therefore privacy blinds and shutters are now in
contact with a financial consultant in order to commission a report. This report will examine the influence
business culture can have on the success of a business, three challenges business may encounter during
growth stage of the business cycle and two external influences that could impact Privacy Blinds and
Shutters.
1.) Influences In the Business Environment
1.1 Business Culture
Business Culture is an influence in the business environment which refers to how you do and what you do
in the workplace. It’s the sum of your formal and informal systems and behaviours and values, all of which
create an experience for your employees and customers.
1.2 Influence of business culture on Privacy Blinds and Shutters
The business culture has a vital role to play in the success of the business, when an individual is working in
healthy and positive business culture, they gain variety of benefits such as given the freedom to explore
and experiment new ideas with a focus on finding innovative solutions to problems, he or she tends to be
more efficient with their work ethic, it motivates them to contribute more to their work and provides an
incentive to work harder. In terms of future success Privacy Blinds and Shutters should be providing a
positive business culture for the betterment of their business, customers and employees, this would

number of foreign competitors in the foreign market although on the positive
they are currently at the growth stage of the business cycle. The company has
reached out to a consultancy firm to improve stand out in-between the mass
number of competitors. Therefore, Privacy Blinds and Shutters Pty Ltd are now
in contact with a financial consultant in order to commission a report.

What to include in the body paragraphs and how to organise them
1. The body paragraphs are formed using the second section of the
executive summary. The 3 aims of
the report will help form the headings and subheadings for the body
paragraphs.
2. Organise your body paragraphs in order of the questions.
3. Your body paragraphs should answer the question according to the
directive verb.
4. The amount of writing you allocate to each section will be according
to the directive verb. For example,
An outline question requires you to sketch in general terms. This
directive verb is a low order verb and
doesn’t require you to write a lot. Whereas explain which requires you
to relate cause and effect,
make the relationship between things evident is a mid- high order verb
and requires you to write more
than outline. However, it does not require you to write as much as an
evaluate question.
5. Using a PEEL (Point, Evidence, Explain, Link) paragraph structure.
6. At the end of each paragraph you need to link back to the question as
well as the relevant objectives
which may include profit, market share, growth, share price, social,
environmental.
