Introduction

Problem Identification

BetonAnalytica have a deep concrete technical expertise background, currently working with well-established
Ready Mix Concrete Suppliers in Indonesia. We encounter problems of Indonesia’s RMC operation caused by
many factors, i.e ; manpower, equipments, raw materials, weather and other factors.

Our Proposed Solution

BetonAnalytica will provide data solutions to overcome these challenges utilizing secure embedded sensors and
proprietary algorithms to generate accurate In Situ Concrete Strength & Temperature Data in real time.

Relationship of In Situ Concrete Strength to Time & Temperature are managed & solved via Maturity Method as
per ASTM C1074, adopted by SNI 2847-2019. Physical compressive strength for to calibration validation are fully
to ACI 214.

Temperature & Relative Humidity data are measured & captured in accurate resolution by our DataMax IoT
Sensors, processed by cloud software to generate In Situ Strength & delivered to your operations team seamlessly.

The outcome of our proposal will be to optimizing quality control cycles with help from Real-Time In Situ Concrete
Strength Monitoring enabled by BetonAnalytica IoT solution.

Activity of BetonAnalytica team in this project will comprise:

• Preliminary – Preparation – Mobilization.

• Briefing & Training to related RMC Crews.
• Concrete Batching Production Review & Mix Batch Record Reviews.
• Mix Designs Calibration for Maturity Equation Curve generation.
• Validation of Maturity Results to actual RMC product pour on site.
• Routine RMC Field Monitoring on site.

The aim of this Solution is to provide Technical Efficiency of RMC supplier on projects.

Method & Schedule

The underlying principle of monitoring is Maturity Method documented as ASTM C1074. The method relies on
calibration to determine the actual behaviour of concrete on its relationship between Temperature vs Strength
along curing time. The methodologies are provided for several major activities as follows:

a) Initial Mix Calibration

Standard calibration for actual concrete samples for production. Take samples from actual batched
concrete, monitor temperature vs strength in the lab environment, samples immersed in Curing Pond.
b) Production Monitoring & Validation
Based on obtained maturity equation & curve from previous activity, this is performed to calculate the
Real-Time In Situ Concrete Strength based on actual concrete behavioral (Temperature & RH) as
measured and captured by embedded sensors in the poured RMC to the Concrete Structure. Validation
is required to measure delta difference against actual cylinder crush tests.

There are several important points for maturity mix calibration:

• Sample Mold Preparation
Cylinder samples ø 15 cm, and Depth 30 cm. This is required for all samples.
• Embedding Sensor in Sample
The sensors must be embedded 5 cm from top surface, in the center of cylinder cross section.
• Installation of Cerebro gateway
Connect Sensors to Gateway soonest possible to ensure immediate temperature recording process.
• Sample Curing
All samples shall have same curing conditions in order to obtain the correct correlation between the
Strength and Maturity.
• Concrete Compressive Strength Tests (Crush Tests)
Every sample group represent each designated curing age. All sample shall be tested, tracked, logged
date/time, and calculate the average strength of the sample group. If the difference between the two
tests is higher than 10% from their average, break the third sample and use the average of the three.
• Stand Alone Samples
Samples with embedded temperature sensors should not be tested, used only for temperature
monitoring reference.
• Maturity Equation & Curve Generation
To Find the related maturity value at the time of the compression tests. Determine the strength-maturity
relationship, find the strength-maturity relationship for the remaining test ages by repeating the steps
above. Plot the maturity vs strength for each test age and create the best fitting curve.
Test Age Maturity Strength (MPa)

Production Monitoring Procedure

Bluetooth Transmitter
1. Download BA Concrete Sensor App
2. Remove sensors from their packaging, which you intend to install in concrete pour.
3. Activate sensors by following app instructions to add a Project and Job Details as required
4. Check pour area on pour area and decide on intended sensor locations. Label surface of each sensor
with its intended name. Clearly mark pouring section to show each sensor name/location.
5. Select Pour which the sensors are intended for. Select Add Sensor
6. Pour Concrete
7. For sensors with cable and temperature probe, ensure the large end (radio transmitter) is near the
concrete surface (max depth for transmitter is 15 cm). Ensure cable is looped around rebar.
8. Connect to sensors as often as needed to monitor progress. Sensors store all data onboard for life of
battery up to 2 and will also be stored in the mobile app once collected.
