’Assignment 2.1’’

Economy of the home country:

First I would conduct the research based on demographic factor, mostly based on
income and social class and age . if thr target market is low income peoplw then the
trip needs to be affordable . since bowls is a sophisticated , indoor game played by
middle age people , tyherefore the target market is middle age made
specifically .also, the holidays timing is necessary to know the plan of the tour.

Economy of the host country :

Since bowl is organised in the country of Cyprus I wouild like to research about the
current condition of the country , about the political situation of the country to assess
the safety and security od any visitors to gain the confidence .

Secondly about the govertment rules and legal restrictions to plan the itenary
planning and to prepare a module describing the important rules and fine structure to
be prepared.

Exchange rates:

It is important to plan the cost and to give an estimate of expected overall money
needed to travel . it may either make the trip affortable or expensive ,

Moreover, I ned to research about the trend of exchange rates for determining the
fluctuation in order to givr correct pricing .

Seasonal climate:

It depends on which season is it better , it may be better to avoid harsh winters and
summer to enjoy the trip to the fullest .

Climatic conditions are getting unstable day by day need to find information about
past incident if avoidable to determine the desirable place .

Transportation:

There may be multiple option available for transportation . need to find information
an based on fare need to identify the best fit. Based on the number of people , the
mode and cost would change .

Also thecost of airplanes and different airline services needs to be discussed and
available as options for the group to choose and based on these groups are created.
Accommodation , number of meals includes:

After identifying the target customer it would be easier to identify which hotel to stay .
whether it would be better to book a 5 star rating hotel or a resort , which one would
be better and cost efficient and hassle free to stay .

The customers would be satisfied if they have the morning brealfast available woth
the hotel’s rate as well or any special discount available that needs to be taken into
consideration .

Who would be interested in the tour?

This stage is about determinining the target customer after segmenting the market .
the young generations , female as well might be interested in bowl and might want to
give a tour to view the game , so no one should be neglected.

Length of tour:

Since many mixture of people might want to give a tour, their desired time frame
might vary a lot . me as a travel agent might strike a balance between different time
expectation and plan a favourable length of stay for everyone.

How many guests do you anticipate?:

This depends on the size of the target market , the amount of advertisement is done
and the affortablioty and pricing of the tour as a whole and the desirable time the tour
is planned.

Cost of operating tour:

The mode of transport, accommodation , sight seeing , etc

Are competitors operating a similar tour?:

This needs to be taken into careful consideration since this might disrupt the pricing
of the package and immense pressure to capture the market and differentiate the
package.
‘’Assignment 2.2’’

a) Madrid, Spain's central capital, is a city of elegant boulevards and expansive,

manicured parks such as the Buen Retiro. It’s renowned for its rich

the portico-lined Plaza Mayor, and nearby is the baroque Royal Palace and
Armory, displaying historic weaponry.

 Prado Museum is one of the largest museums in the world. It is difficult to

see everything in one visit. Among the 3,000 paintings on display are works

7pm and Sundays until 2pm.

significance. It was built in the sixteenth century by Philip II to commemorate
the victory over the French at the Battle of San Quentin. It also serves as a
mausoleum for his father, Charles V. You can visit the monastery, two
palaces, a church, two cemeteries, an extensive library and many works of art
from April to September 10am to 7pm, and from October to March until 6pm.

‘’Assignment 2.5’’
Discount holidays rose a ton in recent years and it goes against the law as it hinders
consumer’s protection and is used as a shaddy way of promotion , grabbing
customers attention at first glance and rising expectation and giving false hopes at
first . many customers pay upfront and the travel agents doesnot disclose the full
pricing and scam the travellers and this kind of cases are arising and moreover ,
scammers are also scamming based on this tricks of advertisements . the
advertisements tells all inclusive but after arriving at the destination the expenses are
comparatively more than the amount prescribed .

The outcome is a pool of dissatisfied customers and a kind of one time customers
who are never going to be a loyal customers and the trust will be hampered and in
the long run with negative word of mouth , this kind of scamming would not work and
they may face fines and sue the company ultimately making it bankrupt and closing
down the business . although , it may seem a great way of attracting the customers
in the short term but in the long run it is a very risky one .

Assignment 2.7
1. Although due to digitilasation and the ease of technology travellers are
booking and planning their own travel but still this shift is happening in
a small scale and not all are comfortable with these specially the
business travellers who don’t have time to arrange their tour and
constant sudden trip . the travel agents have connection and can
provide better deal and pricing than the solo trip planned and have e
contingent plan in case of things going south . therefore the future is
still grpwing and in stable condition.

2. Travel agents are more than just doing bookings and doing the work of
travellers . they are also consultant srvices amd help with other type of
things such as travel documents , passport and vias processing ,
suggesting the best place of tour based on customer features and
characteristics. And mainly promoting a destination and encouraging
travel and tours to a particular place to help the economy and the local
community and ethnic group as well.

3. Advantages for the customers making travel arrangements with

multiple organisations are :

This could be used as a contingent plan and is usually made

arrangements for the important executives and the ceos for very
important meetings which cann’t be missed at any cost , and for leisure
travel it is a best one since the best possible price and burgain is
achieved and the the entertainment and the leisure package is
broadened since one travel agent may not be able to offer all the
package and options available.

Disadvantages:
This might lead to duplication of resources and increase in cost and
also the timings may be difficult to plan . moreover , the travel agents
migt not sell individual services or might charge very high prices .

4. Advantages for customers for booking with the independent travel

agents :
The customers can go for an exotic travel In the small rural regions and
experience the local community tradition and culture and this can be
easily done with the help of independent travel agents . they will
understand and try to match the tour with the liks and dislikes of the
travellers .
Disadvantages:
Might not be able to find the ebst prices and burgain and options are
limited since they are part of host agency. They might not have
access :to bigger markets and can’t be of much help.

From an economic point of view, the historic part of the Port of Cape Town had
become underutilised as a result of changing shipping technology and harbour
expansion. A valuable land asset had to be converted to alternative uses in order to
generate value and income for the landowner.

In November 1988, Victoria and Alfred Waterfront (Pty) Ltd (“V&AW”) was
established as a wholly-owned subsidiary by Transnet Ltd to redevelop the historic
docklands around Victoria and Alfred Basins as a mixed-use area with a focus on
retail, tourism and residential development, with the continued operation of a working
harbour. The main planning motivation for the project was the re-establishment of
physical links between Cape Town and its waterfront in order to create a quality
environment; a desirable place to work, live and play; and a preferred location to
trade and invest for Capetonians and visitors.

 Variety of attractions and activities that includes helicopter rides, leisure

boat cruises, stand-up paddling, live entertainment, Two Oceans
Aquarium Cape Wheel and much more.
 Watershed – Africa’s new home for craft and design with 150 tenants
and 360 local brands
 Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa) – Africa’s most
significant museum in over a 100 years
 NuMetro Cinema – first 4DX cinema in Africa.
 Over 500 retail stores – diverse offering of local and international brands
that guarantee something for everyone shopping in Cape Town,
irrespective of taste or budget.
 Over 80 eateries – Whether you are looking for a quick bite from our
world-class food market or a more leisurely experience at some of our
unique fine dining restaurants
 V&A Waterfront is home to 22 historical landmarks.

the Canal District links the V&A Waterfront and the Cape Town Convention
Centre (CTICC), with water taxis providing an easy transport option between
both points. It also reintroduces the old connection between the city, its
waterways and the sea along pedestrian landscaped walkways and bridges.

The developmental history of Cape Town’s Foreshore and Waterfront has its
origins in 1652, when the Dutch East India Company established a
refreshment station at the Cape to serve its trading fleets en route to and from
its colonies in Asia.

Table Bay is not a natural harbour. Although partially protected from the
summer southeasterly gales, the winter north-westers drove hundreds of
ships aground with periodic tragic loss of life. The first Dutch commander, Jan
van Riebeeck, built the first small jetty that remained in use until well into the
19th century.

Another legacy from the Dutch period was the system of coastal fortifications
constructed along the Table Bay coastline, to defend Cape Town against
foreign invaders. Two of these fortifications, Chavonnes Battery (circa 1726)
and Amsterdam Battery (circa 1794) were located within the area that now
forms part of the V&A Waterfront site. The remains of these two fortifications
have been the subject of extensive archeological investigations. These
remains form an integral part of the Waterfront’s cultural-historical landscape
and are being incorporated as features into new development projects.

Although the first British occupation of the Cape in 1795 transformed the local
economy, very little harbour development took place before 1860. In June
1858 serious winter storms wrecked over 30 vessels. As a consequence,
Lloyds of London refused to cover ships wintering in Table Bay.

In 1859 plans were approved by the Cape governor, Sir George Grey, and the
British Imperial Government for the construction of Cape Town’s first harbour.

On a sunny September 17, 1860 nearly all of Cape Town's inhabitants

gathered at the Waterfront. Amidst a carnival atmosphere, Midshipman HRH
Prince Alfred, Queen Victoria’s second son, tipped the first load of stone to
start construction of the breakwater for Cape Town's first harbour. It was a
day of incomparable celebration for the town's folk. Apart from the occasion of
the first Royal visit to the Cape Colony, it was a significant day for
Capetonians who had suffered the vexations, dangers and delays of the
previously inadequate port facilities.

against accident or medical treatment costs that may incur during travel. In
case of any accident, dental treatment or medical treatment, expenses up to
the limit specified in the insurance policy are reimbursed by the insurance
company. Some insurance companies have a network of hospitals in different
countries through which cashless treatment can be done. The Travel
Insurance company also provides help to ensure the insured person doesn’t
have any problems. This is one of the biggest Travel Insurance benefits.

Controlling the conversation in telephone calls

Many enquiries come through making telephone calls which tend to be

small and precise and specific . I should first greet the clients with a
nice , soft tone and friendly one to avoid intruition and to make them
friendly and comfortable to ask the question . and greet by saying ‘’
how may I help you?’’ and continue to answer the question and to
identify the type of customer and to know their interests to offer
recommendations and to make them keen to visit the office for booking
through them . his csn be done by providing accurate information with
a good atitude and with a personalised attitude . the questions should
be to make them a customer by saying should I book it for you , and by
giving suggestions .another important thing is to be a good listener and
understanding the customers needs and wants .
