However, aside from the advantages of social media, it also has a harmful
effect on people. Spending too much time on social media sites could adversely
affect our mood and make us more likely to report poor mental health, including
symptoms of anxiety and depression. Also, spending too much time on it can lead to
poor sleep; this happens when we use our phones at night, and a lack of sleep can
lead to a drop in productivity. It can also make people addicted to it to the point
where they don’t care what’s around them because they are focused on their phone.
Yes, social media is addictive for many individuals, but it doesn't mean it
ought to be prohibited. Instead, we can govern it. Social media is important as it
helps us interface with our social lives. However, if you think quitting is the best
solution for you, it isn’t a bad idea.
