Dear Hiring Committee:

I am writing to you in regards for my interest in the Teacher position. After my research and overview of the school
and position, I feel confident my education and professional experience deems I am an excellent candidate for this
position. Accompanying my communication based education and professional work ethic, makes me well qualified
for this position.

I have attended Longwood University for four years upon graduation in the spring. I am majoring in Liberal Studies
with a minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I am a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority where we raise
money for Alzheimer's Association, complete highway clean-up in the town, and go to local nursing homes to serve. I
have completed the following courses that will help during my time as a teacher: Behavior Management, Human
Behavior and Social Institutions, and Survey of Exceptional Children. I believe the curriculum taught in these classes
prepared me for the classroom setting.

Since 2018 I have been employed at Orchard Hills Day School as: Assistant Teacher and Lead Teacher. I was tasked
to communicate with parents, children, and coworkers. In this position I learned to communicate sensitive topics to
parents and coworkers this allowed me to establish positive relationships. My time as a teacher as Orchard Hills has
prepared me for proper lesson planning, ways to handle classroom behaviors, and ways to provide children with
instructional learning.

While collaborating with other teachers on lesson planning for the week, I made sure to keep my lessons organized if
there was any reason I needed to miss. I attended in weekly staff meetings to help collaborate programs, and
behavior procedures. I made sure my lessons were color coded with information, the daily craft had a picture printed,
and the music we taught had the title and singer for my teachers to easily be able to look up the lyrics if needed. In my
classroom, I had engaging activities for my students, along with instructional time implemented throughout the day. A
goal of mine was to keep my room and lessons organized iso that anyone who worked after me was able to follow
along easily. For instance, on a summer day I allowed my students to play with finger paint when we were reading a
book called My Sense. I allowed the students to explore different textures along with Jello, Finger paint, and pudding
with Oreo chunks which proved to be a success. The theme for that week was camping, so we allowed them to paint
a campfire, eat red Jello to keep with the fire color, and pudding with Oreo chunks to make them think of mud.

I feel that my professional career, education, and career goals complement what you are looking for in a Teacher. I
would welcome the opportunity to join your school system.I look forward to speaking with you on this position and
answering any questions you may have about my qualifications.

Sincerely,

Mackenzie Tuck
