Based on this experience, identify what you can do to make your next interview (as the
interviewee) more successful.
After this mock interview, I recognized that I tend to struggle to respond to questions where I am
asked to speak about my skills. In my next interview, I would like to prepare for skill-based
questions by coming up with ways to highlight my abilities in a way that doesn’t make me come
across as arrogant or narcissistic. I feel uncomfortable taking credit for my own
accomplishments, but I believe that it is important to get of of your comfort zone and be able to
recognize what experiences impact your traits. While observing other interviews, I noticed that
others repeated themselves a lot and restated the same things using different words. I think that
its useful to get your point across in an interview, but it is also important to show the employer
that you have a wide variety of traits, experiences and perspectives. In future interviews, I think
that my group mates and I should work on our overall awkwardness, maintaining eye contact and
speaking more in depth or providing more examples when asked to talk about ourselves.
