8th March, considered as International Women’s Day. This day brings many things for women – a cause for
celebration, a reason to pause and re-evaluate a remembrance, an inspiration and a time to honor, loved and
admired. Gender Equity cell in association with Women’s development cell of Jai Shriram Engineering College
has celebrated the International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2023 in the College Conference hall.
Dr. Sowmiya Santhanam, Founder and CEO Seventh Sense Robotics, shared her tales of struggle and success.
Further she said, gender equality is very important for a healthy society. The milestone to be reached is the basic
information for a girl child in every family education will during awareness among the society which will further
result in overall development of nation and its community.

GEC ORGANISES WORKSHOP ON FOCUS MINDED

Jai Shriram Engineering College conducted a workshop on the topic FOCUS MINDED on 24.03.23 in
college conference hall. Dr Nithyanandham CEO, Barani Ferrocast Coimbatore delivered a speech on Focus on
concentration, to understand what a focused mind is, you need to understand the concept of attention field. Your
attention field is the combination of everything inside of you such as thoughts, emotions, or physical sensations
and everything outside of you including what you see and what you hear.

Communities on drug-related issues the taboo on discussion on these must be overcome and this requires
sensitivity, persistence, time, and meaningful engagement within the communities in order to discuss, devise and
deliver the most effective approaches. A major barrier to drug information, advice and treatment services is a lack
of awareness of the range of services that exist and the help they can offer. It is therefore advisable to create
awareness among all people to control the usage of drugs.
The session started with the Chief Guest speech with a motivational story and guest delivered the special address
like Family reaction to drug addiction includes denial, blaming, suppressed anger, depression, bargaining,
preoccupation, change of personality, and codependency. Family and friends express negative and non supportive
attitudes such as hopelessness and being ashamed of the addict’s act or indifference and desertion by the spouse
and in general resistance.

Considering rising atrocities and discrimination against women, the United Nations Commission on the Status of
Women (CSW), after more than thirty years of work, prepared ‘The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of
Discrimination against Women (CEDAW).’ The CEDAW was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)
on 18th December 1979, however, it came into force as an international treaty on 3rd September 1981.
Program was started by the brief introduction about Women’s rights by Mr.N.Sadhasivam/Senior
Advocate-Tirupur followed by the Inaugural address given by the Principal explained about the future
benefits of the laws among the students community.
