Introduction

The Gender Audit is an attempt to study whether the college has good gender balance. It

tries to see whether college follows government rules, policies and actions formulated for up-

gradation of women in society. The Gender Audit tries to access the impact of its current

and proposed policies on gender equality. The gender audit was conducted to identify means

to make our college campus safer for girl-students/women and sharing the details with the

authority of the college for implementation of the recommendations.

The aim of the JSREC is not only to provide quality education but a holistic development of

students. The institution encourages students to excel not only in academics but also in co-

curricular activities like skill enhancement for the comprehensive development of

personality.

The Formation of Gender Equality and Women Development Cell (WDC)

The main objective of WDC is to create social awareness about the problems of

women and in particular regarding gender discrimination. Create social awareness about the

problems of women and in particular regarding gender discrimination. Encourage

participation of working in the area of women’s development in the activities of the Cell.

Organize seminars, workshops for creating general awareness and orientation of students,

teachers, and non-teaching staff for their active and sustained participation in the activities

of Cell. Organize various types of training programmes and create awareness about self-

employment schemes for the encouragement of self- reliance among women.

WDC is a statutory body which works in different capacities. The aim and objective

of the Women Cell is to prevent empower and to promote general well-being among female

students, teaching and non-teaching women staff in the college premises. The cell is also

responsible to undertake the awareness programmes on gender sensitization, women rights

and women empowerment in the college campus.

Internal Complaints committee

It is formed according to the provisions of the POSH ACT – Sexual Harassment of Women at
Workplace Act of 2013, 9th December 2013. It is also mentioned in University Grants
Commission (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of sexual harassment of women
employees and students in higher educational institutions) Regulations, 2015- 2nd May 2016.
As per the POSH Act, an employer has 10 workers or more is required to set up an Internal
Complaints Committee for the Redressal of ‘Sexual harassment complaints at such entity and
to regulate and administer complaints on sexual harassment. An Internal Complaints
Committee is required to be constituted which shall submit an annual report to its employer
and District Officer

The main responsibility that lies with the IC is:

 Receive complaints of sexual harassment at the workplace.

 Initiate and conduct an inquiry as per the company’s procedure.

 Submit findings and recommendations of all such inquiries.

 Coordinate with the Employer in implementing appropriate action.

 Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the process as per established guidelines of the
Internal Complaints Committee Policy.

Goals of Gender Audit:


The goal of the current Gender Audit is:
 To evaluate how it’s planned and existing policies would affect gender
equality.
 A gender audit enhances the collective capacity of the organization to
examine its activities from a gender perspective and identify strengths and
weaknesses in promoting gender equality issues.
Gender Policy:
 There shall not be any kind of discrimination on the basis of Gender.
 The institution will be open to both men and women.
 All genders have the right to express themselves freely and fairly.
 A grievance redressal cell maintains impartiality, confidentially by providing
accessible and active atmosphere to all the female students and teaching and
non-teaching women for their injustice.
 The institute adopts comprehensive safety measures to all the students, teachers
and non-teaching staff irrespective to gender.
Objectives of Gender Audit:
 The Gender Audit has the following objectives:
 To examine the gender discrepancies at the College level.
 To study and determine the places and variables of gender discrimination.
 To investigate gender-based discrimination and disparities in academic and
nonacademic activities.
 To achieve a good gender balance in decision-making process across all
aspects of college life.
 To propose comprehensive strategies to minimize the gender gap.
 To promote gender equality within the campus.
 To ensure sufficient amenities to all genders to keep the campus gender
discrimination free.
 To increase college's efforts and capacity to prevent sexual harassment.
 To examine gender-based issues that affect administrative staff, students, and
teachers.

The above graph shows the classification regarding the ratio of admissions of males and
females for various Courses. It can be easily analyzed that the ratio of female students was
low from the last five years when it was compared to the admitted male students The ratio of
male and female students’ admissions for B.E. ad B.tech courses in the last five years is
moderate and seems average through all the years. But still, the percentage of boy’s students
was significantly high it was observed that institutional provides campus and gender
promotion activity-based education to improve girls intake. Since the students come from
rural areas, socially disadvantaged groups and the institution offers an education with
affordable fees. The institution has even ways through transportation and other activity
programs.

The above graph shows the proportion of male and female teaching staff. An analysis
of the ratio of teaching staff from the academic year 2018-19 to 2022-23 is shown
above. In the academic year, 2018 -2019 and 2019-2020 the ratio of male teaching
faculty was 53 - 54% and female teaching faculty was 46-47% its started decreasing. The
ratio of male and female teachers in the academic year 2021-2022 to 2022-2023 shows
increases ratio of female teaching staff.

An analysis of the ratio of non-teaching staff from the academic year 2018-19 to 2022-23
was shown above. The male percentage is higher whereas the female percentage is low
compared to male non-teaching faculties. Compared from the initial stages the percentage
started increasing from the year 2021-2022 to 2022-2023.
