Vocational Scenario

The banking service in Vietnam has overcome challenges caused by the pandemic in the last two
years. In 2022, more than 20 banks applied the BASE II, some banks approached the BASE III,
including TPBank. Moody’s also upgraded the credit rating for 12 banks: Vietcombank, BIDV,
Vietinbank, TPBank,… which reflects the International recognition for Vietnam banking. About the
interest rate, since the beginning of 2023, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has conducted measures
and cut down the key interest rates by 0.5-1% per annum based on a negative inflation rate and
ensured the stable exchange rate between VND and USD. Besides, in order to promote the digital
transformation in banking, the SBV chose the date of May 11 th as the digital transformation day. Some
banks achieved the rate of 90% transactions as E-banking, reduced the CIR (the cost to income ratio)
up to 30% (Vietnam Bank Association, 2023).
Taking digital technology and innovation as the two pillars for development, TPBank is a pioneer in
modern banking product and service trends, that leads to its position as the No.1 Digital Bank in
Vietnam. In April 2023, TPBank issued the Annual report 2022, which showed the effectiveness of
digital transformation with profit growth of 30%, total assets reached 329,000 billion. The bank promised
the sustainable values to all stakeholders by the comprehensive digitalization.

Assignment activity and guidance

Your report should include findings from external and internal audit:
1. a PESTLE analysis to identify, and apply the relevant macro environment factors impacting TPBank;
2. a SWOT/TOWS analysis to justify how they influence decision-making of the company;
3. critical evaluation of both macro and micro factors to formulate some recommendations for TPBank
on the business objectives and decision-makings.

- The recommendations should be based on your analysis from both internal and micro-macro factors.
