Atomic Love

In the world of elements, a kingdom sat named Botania. Its duty consisted of protecting the life of
plants and going out of their way to secure their well-being and safety. In this world, people are classified
into three classes namely: metals, nonmetals, and metalloids. They received these classes and types of
elements the moment they were born and distributed randomly. Carbelia, the princess of Botania is
classified as a nonmetal because she is a carbon. Carbon is a chemical element that is very abundant, has
a valence of +4, has a symbol of C, has an atomic number of 6, and is considered a pattern maker because
it can link to itself forming long resilient chains called polymers. The moment she was born, her mother
died, forcing her to get married by her 18th birthday.

The day was cloudy, Carbelia loved to go out in this kind of weather. This is why she decided to
roam outside, sneaking into her secret place but as she entered the vicinity which is located near the forest,
she saw a man looking at the flowers. She was alarmed because no one is supposed to enter there and by
that, she asked “Who are you?! You’re not supposed to be here”. The man was startled, “I’m sorry, the
flowers are too mesmerizing. I followed it unconsciously.”

The figure turned his back slowly. Carbelia’s beauty stunned him that he almost forgot to breathe.
There was a spark in her face that he cannot merely explain what happened and left him speechless for a
moment. But there was one thing that he was sure about, and it was love at first sight. He was too stunned
to speak, ''H-hi, B-by t-the w-way, I-I a-am Ox-Oxy… I am also a nonmetal but in Group 16 A because I am
an oxygen.'' The Princess replied and smirked, ''Well, I am Carbelia. I am glad to meet you, Oxy.'' Oxygen
has a valence electron of -2, has a symbol of O, has an atomic number of 8, and has an electronegativity
value of 3.5, while Carbon has a value of 2.5. Polar Covalent bonds are formed between two nonmetal
atoms like Carbon and Oxygen. Because of the difference in the electronegativity that each element holds,
they are both compatible and can create an everlasting bond, specifically a Polar Covalent Bond. At the
same time, the difference between the two elements' electronegativity value should be greater than or
equal to 0.5.

Moreover, five well-known properties of a bond are Physical State, Melting Point, Boiling Point,
Conductivity, and Solubility. The physical state of polar covalent bonds can be in the form of solid, liquid,
or gas at room temperature. The nature of its solid form is brittle and soft. If it contains fewer molecules,
it will be in a gaseous state and it will be in a liquid or solid state if it contains more molecules. The same
in a relationship, the more you invest your feelings and your time for each other, the deeper and
impenetrable your relationship will be. The second property of polar covalent bonds is a low melting point.
It is lower compared to ionic bonds because the force of attraction between molecules of covalent bonds
is weak. People are first attracted to the physical appearance of a person but not everyone that you are
attracted to will be someone good for you. The third property of polar covalent bonds is a low boiling point.
The same as the low melting point, the weak force of attraction between molecules is also the cause of
the low boiling point. The fourth property is low conductivity. Covalent bonds cannot conduct electricity
in their natural form but they are capable of conducting electricity when dissolved in water. The fifth
property is solubility. Polar covalent molecules are soluble in water because substances that have the same
polarity are soluble with one another.

After they introduced themselves, they both enjoyed each other's company. They are both smiling
and laughing on their way out to the secret place. When Oxy is about to take Carbelia to the palace, he
asks Carbelia if he wants to go on a date with him and Carbelia agrees. Before she went inside, she pulled
out Oxy’s shirt and kissed him. Then she whispered to his ears, ‘’see you tomorrow, handsome”. Carbelia
laughed and left him freezing. Oxy cannot get over what happened because they finally shared electrons.
He went home with a big smile on his face. When atoms of different elements share electrons, the shared
electrons tend to be pulled closer to one element than the other. The element with a higher
electronegativity value will pull the element with a lower electronegativity value.

While Carbelia was walking in their living room, she saw Hyde. A hydrogen atom and also a
nonmetal with a valence electron of 1, has a symbol of H, has an atomic number of 1, and possesses an
electronegativity value of 2.1. As she met his gaze, chills were sent running up her spine to the point her
posture went stiff. “Greetings princess,” Hyde grinned. He was a prince from the neighboring empire Cassia
which had quite the conflict until their peace treaty 2 years ago. Carbelia makes a curtsy and greets back
“Your Royal Highness” after which she’d tried to walk off from Hyde, but stopped as he asked “So, so, sooo
cold. Say, princess, I wonder what your face looks like when your family dies right in front of you. Oh, right-
the man from the garden as well, is he perhaps..a lover?” Hyde’s sly grin reached his cheeks at Carbelia’s
glaring at him. “Don’t you dare touch any one of them or you will--” Carbelia was cut off from her sentence
when she suddenly heard an explosion in the garden. Carbelia looked at Hyde horrified. “I’ll what
princess??” Hyde grinned, “Don't worry, it’s just a warning… well at least for now” he added.

Oxy and Carbelia last saw each other a week ago and haven't seen each other since. The Princess
once pondered whether she would ever see the man she had seen in a wooded area again. She returns to
that place over and over, wanting to see the man who initially made her feel tingle in her chest, but she
never does. Since she wished to see the guy she met at the hidden place she always went to, the Princess
has always felt melancholy. Carbelia went outside for another stroll to get some fresh air and forget about
what she was thinking when she didn't notice that her feet were leading her back to the spot where she
always went.

She sat down on a bench, her head blank. Only the sound of birds chirping and leaves rustling can
be heard. She was simply observing her surroundings in silence when she caught a glimpse of a human
figure. She became terrified at the prospect of a terrible person entering this secret location with the goal
of injuring her. She made a loud gasp and couldn't move because what she saw in the distance immediately
turned to face her. As she recognized who it was, the princess's expression brightened. He was the person
who had always drawn her back to this location and was the first to thump Carbella's heart. It was Oxy.

"How come you didn't show up?" Carbelia inquired, her voice tinged with sorrow. "Because of a
family issue, I was unable to attend our first date, but everything is now in order. Don't be concerned; what
matters is that I'm back in front of you. Let's do what we should have done on our first date. Let's have a
good time.," Oxy responded, and the woman's excitement could be seen on her face. They had a good day
and did everything they pleased as if it were their last day on this planet. Unbeknownst to them, they were
being watched. The stares were tinged with resentment and jealousy. -No one will own you if you can't be
mine, Carbelia.

Since that day, Hyde has done all in his power to sever the two's ties. He didn't want to lose
Carbelia, his most cherished princess. He will go to any length to reclaim what is rightfully his. It hurts Hyde
because it feels like no matter how much effort and love he puts into Carbelia, it's all for nothing. It seemed
like he was having a hard time talking to the woman about how he was feeling but when Oxy came he was
able to easily enter the princess's life. He has been trying so hard to break down her walls but Oxy only
took a few knocks, a few tugs, and the princess's walls were shattered. That's why he despises Oxy so much.

But no matter how hard Hyde tried, he couldn't get the two apart. Hyde was well aware that he
wouldn't be till the very end. He understood that it wasn't Carbelia's fault that they didn't share his feelings.
Because they only became together with the latter by peace treaty agreement. No matter how hard he
tried to ignore it, it still wounded him. However, watching Carbelia's eyes light up while he's with Oxy
justifies Hyde's decision to let Carbelia go after Oxy.

Even if the peace deal agreed upon is not completed, Hyde will no longer bother them, and there
will be no war between the two kingdoms. Even so, they will remain as calm as the two kingdoms' current
state. But Carbelia didn't realize that while her mind was made up to choose Oxy, Hyde's mind was made
up to choose her. Even so, this would be the end. Hyde will have to back up a little further. "Oxy and
Carbelia, fight against all odds. You two are deserving of each other." As he pondered the two, Hyde uttered
his final words to himself.
 Finally, the day comes when the two non metal elements, Carbelia and Oxy become one and form
a bond -- polar covalent bond. As a result, they form a compound called Carbon Monoxide. Carbon
monoxide is a linear molecular geometry, there is a triple bond between C and O and each atom contains
one lone pair of electrons.
