‘click', and the window displays ‘II’, it indicates that the switch has successfully transferred to Position II.
3) When the window initially displays ‘II’ (Emergency Source), perform the following operations as needed:
To switch to the OFF Position (Center-Off), rotate the handle 90 degrees clockwise. After hearing a 'click', and
the window displays ‘OFF’, it indicates that the switch has successfully transferred to the OFF Position.
To switch to Position I (Normal Source), rotate the handle 180 degrees clockwise. After hearing a 'click', and the
window displays ‘I’, it indicates that the switch has successfully transferred to Position I.
The detailed handle rotation positions are shown in Figure 3-4.
! CAUTION
1. If the AUTO/MANUAL switch is not in the right position (MANUAL), the handle cannot be inserted.
2. If the handle is not fully inserted into the handle slot, the handle will not operate or the socket may be damaged.
3. The manual handle operation torque required is typically less than 2N·m. If greater force is required, check switch position
and direction of handle rotation before proceeding. Forces higher than 4N·m can damage the manual operator.
4. Take care when operating by hand that fingers do not scrape on the housing of the transfer switch.
3. Once AUTO/MANUAL switch is in the 'AUTO' Position, the switch will automatically transfer to the position that is
Currently set in the controller.
! WARNING
1. The manual operation handle MUST be removed from the handle slot, and replaced in the storage slot for the AUTO/MANUAL
cover to slide into the ‘AUTO” Position.
2. Make sure AUTO/MANUAL cover slides completely to the right as shown in Figure 3-6 to ensure automatic function.
Otherwise, the transfer switch will not work in Automatic Mode.
3.6 Padlock
1. Ensure that the AUTO/MANUAL switch is in ‘MANUAL’ position and Switch is in OFF position as shown in Figure
3-7.
2. Pull the padlock pull-tab out and lift up to expose the lock hole. Then insert the padlock into the hole to lock it, as
shown in Figure 3-8.
! CAUTION
1. The transfer switch must be in the OFF position, and the AUTO/MANUAL cover slid all the way to the left in the MANUAL
position, for the padlock pull-tab to be pulled out.
2. The specified diameter of the A2ADTL transfer switch padlock must be φ3mm to φ5mm.
This chapter describes the transfer switch installation, commissioning and common faults and maintenance methods.
Both power supply sources must be disconnected before manual testing can begin. Refer to Chapter 3.4 to operate
the switch in Manual mode. Using the handle, manually operate the transfer switch from Source I position to Source II
position, and then return the switch to the Source I position. The switch operation should be smooth, and without
interruption.
First make sure the rated voltage of the transfer switch on the nameplate is the same as the rated voltages of both
power supply sources. Connect Source I live power supply source to the transfer switch. Source I Indication LED will
be on (green). Then disconnect Source I by opening the upstream circuit breaker, and repeat with Source II; the
Source II Indication LED will be on (green). This ensures that the source wiring is correct.
! DANGER
When measuring voltage of power sources to ensure it matches the switch nameplate rating, do not touch the terminals or copper bars of the
transfer switch, otherwise it could result in death, or serious injury.
This is used to test the ATS in automatic operation mode and operate the transfer switch automatically.
1) Connect Source I live power supply source to the transfer switch by close the upstream circuit breaker. The
Transfer Switch should transfer to Sources I position. Then disconnect Source I by opening the upstream circuit
breaker.
2) Connect Source II live power supply source to the transfer switch by close the upstream circuit breaker. The
Transfer Switch should transfer to Sources II position. Then disconnect Source II by opening the upstream circuit
breaker.
3) Connect Source I and Source II live power supply source to the transfer switch by close the upstream circuit
breaker, finished the test.
4.2 Maintenance
To ensure consistent reliability of the transfer switch to make sure it is operating normally, regular maintenance
testing should be conducted. It is recommended to do so once every three months.
For all other issues, please contact your authorized Service provider.
1. The Series 230 Automatic Transfer Switch must be protected against frequent voltage surges or power anomalies
by installing an upstream Surge Protection Device (SPD) before connecting to a live Source I and Source II. It is
recommended that the SPD wire connections use the V-shaped wiring method shown in Appended Figure 1. When
limited by practical conditions, if it is difficult to adopt V-shaped wiring, the direct-parallel-connection method shown in
Appended Figure 2 may also be used. It is very important that the connection wire should be as short as possible
(less than 0.5m) when using direct-parallel-connection method to achieve better protective performance.
2. The connection wires should be multi-core copper wire with a cross-sectional area greater than 10mm2 (AWG6).
3. Appropriate MCB or Fuse should be serial-connected to the front-end of the SPD for AC power supply. The MCB
should have the “C” tripping characteristic.
4. The Source power supplies should be disconnected when installing SPD’s. Live installation is prohibited.
5. While an SPD may not need special maintenance, it is recommended that one periodically checks whether the
indicators of the SPD are functioning normally and that the SPD is operating in accordance with the manufacturer’s
requirements.
6. The Wiring method shown in Appended Figure 3 is forbidden. If a previously installed SPD is wired similar to
Appended Figure 3, the wiring needs to be modified to Appended Figure 1 or Appended Figure 2.
