Architectural Code

The Architectural Code is compiled by the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) the bonafide
accredited organization of architects under the purview of P.D. 223 – the Professional Regulation
Commission Law and R.A. 545, the Architect’s Law, to serves a referral code for the implementation
and enforcement of P.D. 1096 – the National Building Code of the Philippines. This is designed to
be compatible and complementary to the provisions of the NBC as its implementing rules and
regulations.

The following are the important discussions of the Code:

Chapter 1 – General Provisions

Section 2: Declaration of Policy

Designed to be consistent, complementary, and compatible as referral code to NBC and


all allied engineering referral codes under the purview of NBC.

Section 4: The Role of the Registered Architect

The architect is the one responsible for the design of buildings and other structures, for
man’s multifarious needs, activities, and aspirations. These include structural, electrical,
plumbing, sanitary mechanical, communications, interiors, acoustics, landscaping, and
related systems and services.
(4.3) Allied engineers with proper expertise registered under their professional laws,
normally form part of an architect’s collaborative engineers group responsible for the
design of their particular expertise.
