INTRODUCTION

On-the-JoB Training (OJT) is part of a college curriculum that aims to train

and orient students about the work and their future career. It is a type of skills

development where a worker learns how to do a work through hands-on

experience. OJT is one method in which students are exposed in different work

situation designed to give students an opportunity to experience and a chance to

apply the theories and computation that they have learned from the school. It

also helps the students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in

actual work settings.

OJT is very important not only to teach students regarding their career but

also to show students the reality about working. The students will be exposed to

the actual work related to the course that they are taking. It also allows those with

no experience to work and learn at the same time. OJT helps the trainee to learn

more about their chosen field and practice what they learned from school. It

helps in building up the trainee's competence. Of course, when a student is

competent enough, they will be able to do things successfully.

This training develops one's professionalism in dealing with people. After

the training, they will be able to handle situation properly and know how to

socialize well with their colleagues. They will also be able to work well and have

a good teamwork. OJT also enhance the critical abilities and discipline of the

student conducting training in the establishment. Their ability to make sound

decision and evaluate pertinent factors will be improved.

Having a proper OJT helps in the preparation of future professionalism in

their jobs. Students will be trained not only academically but socially as well. The

way they work and communicate with others will be improved and make it as an

advantage in their work. And will be given a chance to immense one's knowledge

and skills in their chosen field.

Aside from the workplace experience, OJT allows the trainee to get

acquitted with the real professionals and to meet people having different position

in the company. The trainee will be able to know and adjust to other people's

personalities and attitudes.

OJT requires effort and seriousness. A trainee should take it seriously as it

can be a powerful tool in preparation for the next chapter of their life as a

professional. It can be possible to become their source of recommendation when

they take that big lift from being students to career professionals someday.

The hinterland barangays of the mountainous town got beset by a

distorted peace and order conditions, which were the decline of the rule of law,

pervading lawlessness, rampant illegal cattle-rustling activities, and the

pervading feuds among families, which is the “ubusan it mga lahi” in the local

terms. With all these being said, atrocities in any kind victimized the local folks

and indigenous individuals, including their innocent children. If somehow these

situations exist longer, the widespread effects would be insurmountable leading

the hideous poverty.

Until in 2001, the then Charito I. Navarossa with the platform of “Peace

and security … the foundation of progress” put into power as the Municipal

Mayor. In his leadership, he restored the above-mentioned problems by restoring

the law and order and the justice system, enforcing the laws, alleviate poverty,

and educate the people.

Despite all odds, so as to provide education to the town’s people, the

creation of the Libacao College of Science and Technology (LCST) came into

reality. It is aimed to be the catalyst for change towards quality education for

lifelong learners to live with peace and prosperity as they got provided with the

academic rigors and skills training relevant to be responsive to the ever-changing

society.

Libacao College of Science and Technology is owned, managed and

operated by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Libacao, Aklan. It was

established in year 2003 under the administration of Municipal Mayor Charito I.

Navarosa, pursuant to Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 19, s. 2003

"Resolution Creating the Libacao College of Science and Technology and

Appropriating Funds Thereof."

S.W.O.T ANALYSIS

STRENGTH

Having God on my life is my biggest strength to face all the problems that I

encountered second my family, friends and relatives that help me who I am

today. The knowledge and skills that I’ve learned in my four years of learning

helps me to ease my training during the time of activities.

WEAKNESSESS

Some of my strength is also my weakness. There’s some of task that I’m

not comfortable or confident to doing that because I’m afraid to fail and people to

judge me, and the most weakness is dealing with my personality. It is hard for me

to socialize with different people and their personalities.

OPPORTUNITIES

Opportunity is everywhere especially in this field of hospitality industry.

The opportunity I’ve see and realized in this training is learning good discipline

and patience in work that I can use in the future career I want.

THREATS

The covid-19 pandemic is the biggest threats in our In-House Training.

Most of the schools did not allow their students to do their on-the job training

outside the school campus that is why our school initiated the in-house training

for us to train inside the campus. It is a big threat for us because of the limited

materials to be used for our training. But because of the support of the school,

we are able to practice our knowledge and skills in Hospitality Management.

THINGS LEARNED

I learned a lot of things from my training I have learned the proper ways of

cleaning room, arranging linens and beddings. I also learned to follow the

instructions from my instructors/supervisor and respect the decisions of

instructors and my fellow trainee on what we should do for a certain job.

PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED

Due to pandemic, we are not able to train in real hospitality

industry and outside the school premises. It is lucky for us that our

school has its own mini-hotel with its own facilities and amenities. But

it’s lacking in some equipment and cleaning materials. It is important

for a hotel to be clean at all times avoid complaints and bad review of

the guest.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Since we are lacking cleaning materials to use in cleaning the room, we

provided old clothes and rags to be used as cleaning materials for the mini-hotel.

We damp the cloth with water and put some detergent to it make sure that the

specks of dust and other dirt could be cleaned thoroughly. These left trainees

exhausted and delayed their work. Therefore, I recommend to provide for the

necessary cleaning tools for the benefit of the mini-hotel and the management

should be solicit for funds to provide the needs of school.
