Warm-up (10 minutes):

- Begin by asking students to share their personal experiences with communication in
both face-to-face and online settings.
- Facilitate a brief discussion on the differences and similarities between the two modes
of communication.

Direct Instruction (20 minutes):

- Introduce the concept of blended learning and explain how it combines traditional
methods of teaching with technology to enhance learning.
- Provide examples of how blended learning can be applied to oral communication
skills, such as using video conferencing for virtual presentations or utilizing online
discussion forums for class debates.
- Discuss the benefits of blended learning in terms of accessibility, engagement, and
personalized learning.

Guided Practice (30 minutes):

- Divide students into pairs and assign them a communication scenario, such as a job
interview or a group project meeting.
- One student will act as the 'interviewer' or 'group leader' and the other as the
'interviewee' or 'group member'.
- Each pair will have a set amount of time to practice their communication skills in-
person.
- After the in-person practice, students will switch roles and use technology (e.g. video
conferencing or messaging apps) to communicate their scenario.
- Encourage students to use the skills discussed in class, such as active listening, clear
articulation, and effective body language.

Independent Practice (20 minutes):

- Instruct students to reflect on their own communication strengths and areas for
improvement.
- Have them write a brief reflection on how the blended learning approach has helped
them in developing their oral communication skills.
- Encourage students to share their reflections with the class if comfortable.

Closure (10 minutes):

- Ask students to share their reflections and discuss any challenges or successes they
faced during the practice activities.
- Summarize the benefits of blended learning in improving oral communication skills and
how it can be applied in real-life situations.
- Distribute the rubric for evaluating oral communication skills and have students self-
assess their performance during the practice activities.

Assessment:
- The students' reflections and self-assessment using the rubric will serve as formative
assessment.
- The final assessment will be a group presentation where students will use blended
learning to showcase their improved oral communication skills. The rubric will be used
for grading.

Extension:
- Students can create their own blended learning activities for practicing and improving
oral communication skills.
- They can also research and present on other ways blended learning is used in
different subjects or careers.

Adaptations:

additional resources can be provided for practicing at home.
- For students with language barriers, provide translation tools or allow them to use their
native language in the practice activities.
