FIIEE, PEE, ACPE & APEC
-adopted in the Occupational Safety and Health Standards by BWC-DOLE as a “Electrical Safety
Standards.”
-This Code is intended for the exclusive use of licensed electrical practitioners. This Code is not
intended as a design specification nor an instruction manual for a non-licensed electrical practitioner,
unless under the supervision of a licensed electrical practitioner.
Explanation: The primary objective of the code is to establish basic materials quality and
electrical works standards for the safe use of electricity for light, heat, power, communications,
signaling and for other purposes. “Practical safeguarding of persons and property from hazards arising
from the use of electricity.” This Code is intended as a design specification or an instruction manual for
qualified persons. Electrical designs must comply with the requirements of Code to ensure safety.
Design analysis shall be included on the drawings or shall be submitted on separate sheets of
standard size, and shall show:
Explanation: Without these technical analysis for the specification Office of the Building
Official will not accept the electrical plans
Detailed Specification for Technical Analysis, Materials, and Work
1. Specification in the Boundary
Explanation: The receptacle definition of electrical receptacles are types of sockets or outlets
that provide a location in a system where the wire can be inserted to provide electrical current. The
most common type is the electrical outlet found in most homes, businesses or other types of buildings
3. AFCI Protection
Explanation: It is the Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter. An AFCI is a device intended to open the
circuit when it detects the current waveform characteristics that are unique to an arcing fault.
All 15- and 20-A 230V nonlocking-type receptacles in the following areas shall be listed tamper-
resistant receptacles
1. Dwelling Units
2. Guest rooms and guest suites of hotels and motels
3. Child care facilities
4. Preschools and elementary education facilities
5. Business offices, corridors, waiting rooms and the like
in clinics, medical and dental offices and out patient
facilities
6. Places of waiting transportation, gymnasiums, skating
rinks, and auditoriums
7. Dormitories
Explanation: These receptacles have spring-loaded shutters that close off the contact openings,
or slots, of the receptacles. When a plug is inserted into the receptacle, both springs are
compressed and the shutters then open, allowing for the metal prongs to make contact to
create an electrical circuit. Because both springs must be compressed at the same time, the
shutters do not open when a child attempts to insert an object into only one contact opening,
and there is no contact with electricity. Tamper- resistant receptacles are an important next
step to making the home a safer place for children.
7. Fault Calculation
8. Proper Wiring Method
Explanation:
Neutral Conductor- the conductor connected to the neutral point of a system that is intended to carry
current under normal conditions.
9. Electrical Equipment
