21. - In Mexico, it seemed that people had a choice, but in the
truest sense, they did not. Even if the people were against the
ruling party, the PRI (Institutional Revolutionary Party), the PRI
never lost.
-They were known for using dirty tricks and sabotaging the
elections, hence Mexico wasn’t truly a democracy until 2000.

25. Russian Industrial workers that had endured low wages,
poor conditions and appalling treatment from owners decided to
protest against this. They marched to the Winter Palace where
they were met by an assemblage of soldiers that opened fire
upon the unarmed workers. 100 were killed and about 300
wounded. This incident became known as ‘The Bloody Sunday
Massacre’ and started a series of events called the 1905
revolution.

29. Human resource is different from other resources like land
and physical capital in the following ways:
From an economic development perspective, human resources
exhibit multiple importances i.e. at one end human resource act
both producers as well as consumers.
Human resources makes use of other resources like land and
physical capital to produce an output.
Human resources are considered superior to other resources as they
are not confined to one region or place. It can spread to other
places and diversify.

Changes in daily life post-revolution:


- Change in dressing style due to equality and liberty.

32. The Preamble of the Indian Constitution mentions these 5


Ideals:
- Liberty: It refers to freedom in the activities of citizens of India.
- Justice: Discrimination of the citizens on any ground is legally
prohibited.
- Sovereign: The people of India have supreme power and
authority to decide on internal and external matters concerning
the country. The government cannot be dictated by any external
power.
- Secular: There is no state religion in India. Secular Citizens
have complete freedom to practice and profess any religion or
faith of their choice. No government machinery can discriminate
against or favor any religion or faith and its followers.
- Democratic: In India, it is the form of government where people
enjoy equal rights, choose their leaders, who form the
government. The government has to function according to
certain basic rules ensuring maximum welfare of the people.

OR

A Constitution is a set of principles or precedents by which a state is


governed. It is a set of rules and regulations which places the
government's power in the hands of the citizens in a democratic setup.

-The Constitution places the power of government in the hands of


citizens.
-It limits the power of the state and establishes a system of evaluation
and measurement.
-It is the national constitution, which establishes three administrative
structures, in particular, the legislature, administration and the
judiciary.
-A constitution can defend rights of minorities (including the all-
important minority of one).
-It can include guarantees of legal processes and fundamental legal
restrictions such as laws that make actions illegal after the fact.

33. The main reasons for the ineffectiveness of poverty


alleviation programs are:
- One of the main reasons is the lack of proper implementation
and right planning.
- The chaos caused due to overlapping of various schemes.
- Lack of efficiency in the implementation of the schemes
because of which the benefits of the schemes do not go to the
poor and deprived.
- Lack of proper monitoring of poverty alleviation programs.

In summary:

Lack of proper planning and implementation of schemes are the main


reasons behind the ineffectiveness of poverty alleviation programs.

A person is considered poor if his or her income or consumption level


falls below a given “minimum level” necessary to fulfill the basic
needs. This minimum level is called the poverty line. In India, the
poverty line is estimated by multiplying the prices of physical
quantities like food, clothing, footwear, fuel, light, education, etc. in
rupees. The numbers involved in determining the poverty line vary for
different years. Also, the poverty line for rural areas is different from
that of the urban areas because the work, lifestyle and expenses are
different for rural and urban areas.
