Within the Crimson Council, Daganth remains neu-

truth, he expects that they’re all planning to betray the
others.

Mallungur
Mallunger appears to be a human wizard. Due
to the fact that his age puts him at a century and a
half, the others suspect that he’s either a lich who
carefully maintains the appearance of a living hu-
man, or he has bound a winter’s stone to himself
and has used it to become immortal. Whatever the
truth, the others do not push the question out of
fear, both of his raw magical might, and out of a
more basic fear of the undead forces he commands.

while most elves worship Athena, Kazgathah ven-

to the god of war before every battle, he offered up
prisoners as sacrifices, and he had a close relationship
with the god’s priesthood. His home community of
elves found him distasteful, some individuals going
so far as to label him a dark elf, but they feared his
power so they grudgingly allowed him to come home
when he chose and didn’t oppose him openly.
It is said that when he died, Kazgathah cried out to
Ares to grant him the ability to take back what was
rightfully his. The high priests of the war god, either
unable or unwilling to return him to life, brokered a
deal with dark powers to bring him back, after a fash-
ion. Rising again as a graveknight, Kazgathah sought
vengeance against his killer, and to retake his position
as emperor. Killing General Thiosim proved a trivial

any undead within Arendan that he doesn’t personally

Upon the formation of the Crimson Council, Mal-

Keeping the Crimson

Council Secret
The very existence of the Crimson Council, let
alone the identities of its members, is a tightly kept
secret. They are extremely careful to hide this, not
only because maintaining the mystery of their iden-
tities helps keep their own followers in line, but
also because it makes it more difficult for outsiders
to target them.
As the campaign progresses, the identities of
these individuals will become apparent, and the
player characters will have the opportunity to chal-
lenge and defeat them, but it is important to en-
sure that the information is revealed slowly, and at
the appropriate times. If this information is leaked
early, not only would the characters not be of suf-
ficient power to deal with the council, but the ad-
ventures whose focus is to reveal this information
would become less interesting to the players.

The City of Arendan
1. Duke Heridotus’s Manor
This stately manor house is one of the largest in the
city, and it serves not only as the home for Duke
Heridotus, but also the formal location from which
the city’s affairs are run. Heridotus makes his home
available to various functionaries serving the king,
as well as friends. The ruling council regularly con-
venes here to discuss various affairs relevant to the
city’s interests. Individuals may enter the Manor with-
out an invitation if they have business with the city,
but Heridotus remains insulated from such comings
and goings. He occasionally makes appearances in the
public areas when it is necessary to deliver speeches
or meet publicly with the various important groups
within the city.
