Robert John Downey Jr. is an American actor, voice actor, producer, and singer.

He began his

acting career at a young age, appearing in several films directed by his father, Robert

Downey Sr.,

in his childhood he studied acting at various academies in New York. He moved with his

father to California, but dropped out of school to fully focus on his career. After numerous

unsuccessful projects, Downey gained prominence in the cinema by starring in the film

Chaplin (1992), Robert had to consolidate his career much earlier, however, the excesses did

not allow it.

He was involved in a series of legal problems for drug possession that led to his being

arrested numerous times and production companies refusing to hire him for new roles.

Thanks to the support of Mel Gibson, Downey was able to return to acting.

Downey reached the peak of his career playing the character of Iron Man in the Marvel

Cinematic Universe, starring in the films

The Avengers (2012), Iron Man 3 (2013),

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015),

Captain America: Civil War (2016),

which became great box office successes, being one of the most successful films in history.

Thanks to this role, he has been one of the highest paid actors in the film industry, with

Forbes magazine estimating earnings of more than $250 million just for his participation in
Marvel movies. On the other hand, Downey has three children and since 2005 has been

married to producer Susan Levin.
