Biography of Robert Downey Jr.

Robert John Downey Jr, one of the highest paid actors


in Hollywood in 2019 according to Forbes
magazine. He is the highest paid actor in Marvel
studios. Robert is an icon of the Marvel
Cinematic Universe for having played Iron Man in
the film adaptation of the comic. He was born
New York, April 4th in 1965. He is the youngest of
the two sons of filmmaker Robert Downey and
singer and actress Elsie Ann Ford. Robert is an
American actor, voice actor, producer, and
singer. He began his acting career at an early age, appearing in several
films directed by his father. He in his childhood studied acting at various
academies in New York. After the divorce of his parents, he moved with
his father to California. Robert in 1982 abandoned his studies to focus
entirely on his career. but he ended up working as a shoe salesman and
as an extra in a Soho cabaret. Downey gained prominence in the
cinema, starring in the Richard Attenborough biographical film "Chaplin"
in 1992 a performance with which he won a BAFTA and was nominated
for an Oscar and a Golden Globe.

Robert was involved in a series of legal problems for drug possession


that led to the fact that he was arrested on numerous occasions and in
turn that the production companies refused to hire him for new roles.
Despite the excesses of all kinds of him, Robert Downey Jr. manages to
keep his career alive in Hollywood.

Downey was able to return to acting in 2001 gained recognition on


television with his role in the series Ally McBeal, with which he won a
Golden Globe. In 2004 he made his debut as a singer with the release of
his debut album The Futurist. In 2008 he received critical acclaim for his
role in Tropic Thunder, for which he was again nominated for an
Academy Award. In 2009 Robert was also praised for his role in Sherlock
Holmes, for which he won a second Golden Globe and made a sequel
titled Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011).

Downey reached the height of his career playing the character of Iron
Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starring in the films Iron Man in
2008, Iron Man 2 in 2010, The Avengers in 2012, Iron Man 3 in 2013,
Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, Captain America: Civil War in 2016,
Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, and Avengers: Endgame in 2019, in that
film he closes his character by sacrificing himself for humanity. Thanks to
said role, he has been one of the highest paid actors in the film industry,
with Forbes magazine estimating earnings of more than $250 million just
from his participation in Marvel movies.

In 2020, Downey starred in Dolittle, his first non-Marvel project in six


years. The film, however, was met with harsh reviews and was a box
office flop, costing Universal Studios up to $100 million. Downey has
three children and since 2005 he has been married to producer Susan
Levin who helped Robert leave the world of alcohol and drugs
completely, turning him into the great actor he is today.
