Infection and intoxication of aliments origin in kids in El Salvador

What is an infection?

Is when a strange microorganism enters into your body and take different nutriments from your
body and take advantage from those and reproduce, then create toxins and gas (such as metano
and CO2), the infection could be for bacterium, fungus, yeasts or virus. They may enter through a
lot of ways, but in this case, I will talk about just the aliments.

What is an intoxication?

On the other hand, we have intoxication, is when the microorganism has created toxins over the
aliment, and after that you consume the aliment with the toxins, in this case the microorganism
doesn´t necessary enter to your body to affect you.

Both infection and intoxication, could produce diarrhea, but just infection could produce
gastroenteritis,

The diarrhea is a big problem in all population of El Salvador, given the fact that the gastroenteritis
is pretty dangerous specially in children, all the humans may suffer a gastroenteritis, but there are
many registers about cases in children that suffer gastroenteritis and ends up in the worst
scenario, in the world exist around 1,700,000,000 (one Thousand seven hundred million) of cases
on kids, and 525, 000(fifty twenty-five thousand) ends up in die.

In newspapers, news on social media, don´t talk about that, but in El Salvador a developing
country, exist at least 68,868(sixty-eight thousand eight hundred sixty-eight) cases of
gastroenteritis and diarrhea, and twenty-five deceased in 2023. The peak of the cases in El
Salvador was in 2019, with 112,572 (one hundred twelve thousand five hundred seventy-two), and
the peak of deceased was in the same year with thirty-seven deceased.

The main reason of gastroenteritis and diarrhea is the infection by microorganism, that have been
caused for ruin aliments, the aliments could be ruin for different reason, but in special for the bad
manipulation of them, all the things, have microorganism, in the different surfaces, in the water,
in the ground, in the leaves, in the skin, into our body, but it depends on the location of this
microorganism, the manner how they will act, for example if your microorganism of your skin,
enter into your body in the digestive system(through mouth) , you will get a infection.

But not just the aliments could affect you, the water may have microorganism as well, so in El
Salvador not all the Salvadorean have access to the potable water, in some cases specially in the
field, the water is obtained from a well, anyone can tell you the water from a well is pure, but that
water doesn´t have a treatment of health standards, in the water you can find out a lot of
bacterium, fungus, parasites and virus, that could produce in your body, a lot of illnesses.

Finally, all these facts can affect our health, or health of our family, specially the most vulnerably,
our kids, so if you want to have your kid with a good health you must take care about the food, or
water that he or she consume.
