1.Engineering Installation
1.1Pole Mounting and Wall Mounting
The installation methods of the SASU are completely the same as the standard installation methods of TMAs and combiners. The installation methods of the SASU include wall mounting and pole mounting.

Pole Mounting
Precondition: A pole is prepared and the diameter is in the range of 30 mm to 125 mm. Background information: Two persons are required to install the SASU and the SASU should be prevented from falling down from a height. The hose clamp shown in Figure 1-1 needs to be used when the SASU is mounted on a pole. Figure 1-1 Hose clamp

To mount the SASU on a pole, do as follows: Figure 1-2 SASU mounted on a pole

Guide to Same Band Antenna Sharing Combiner

Step 1 Hoist the SASU and installation accessories to the steel tower or carry them to the building top. Step 2 Determine the installation position of the SASU.
When installing the SASU, you should keep the connector to the antenna facing upward and the connector to the BS facing downward.

Step 3 Put one end (without bolt head) of the hose clamp through the hole in the SASU installation bracket, close around the pole with the hose clamp, and put this end through the slot beneath the bolt at the other end. Step 4 Pull the hose clamp tightly and screw up the bolt on the hose clamp with a screwdriver. Step 5 Connect the external cables of the SASU according to the interface mappings, and wrap waterproof tape around the connectors. ----End

Wall Mounting
To mount the SASU on a wall, do as follows: Figure 1-3 SASU mounted on a wall

Guide to Same Band Antenna Sharing Combiner

Step 1 Determine the installation position of the SASU.

When installing the SASU, you should keep the connector to the antenna facing upward and the connector to the BS facing downward. Expansion bolts are not supplied and are purchased by the field installation engineers.

Step 2 Place the SASU at the determined installation position closely against the wall and use a marker to mark four anchor points. Step 3 Make holes with a percussion drill at the anchor points. Step 4 Clear the dust from inside and outside all the holes with a vacuum cleaner and measure the distance between holes. If the error is large, re-locate the installation position and make holes again. Step 5 Tighten the expansion bolts slightly, put them into the holes vertically, tap them with a rubber hammer until the expansion tubes completely go into the holes. Step 6 Remove the bolts, spring washers, and flat washers in turn. Step 7 Align the holes in the rack-mounting ears on the SASU with the four expansion bolts, put the flat washers and spring washer back onto the bolts, and put the assembled bolts into the expansion tubes. Step 8 Tighten the bolts until the expansion tubes are entirely fit into the holes. Step 9 Connect the external cables of the SASU according to the interface mappings, and wrap waterproof tape around the connectors. ----End

Cabling Rack Installation

Currently, Huawei cabling racks are applied in more and more installation scenarios. The dimensions of cabling racks are not stipulated, however. Therefore, no installation method is specified for cabling racks in this guide.

Installation Accessories
The installation accessories of the SASU include a mounting bracket and two hose clamps. M8 wall-mounting screws are not supplied and need to be purchased locally.

1.2 Port Connection of the SASU

Figure 1-4 Outline of FGSASU2100

The outline of the SASU is basically the same as shown in Figure 1-4. There are two antenna ports at the top of the SASU, and four BS ports and one AISG_F port at the bottom. The positions of these ports may slightly vary with SASU models.

You must observe the ANT ports face upward and BS ports face downward principle when installing the SASU.

Port connections
Step 1 Connect the SASU to the BS ports correctly.
Connect the SASU to BS ports as follows: Connect the UMTS_M/Ctr port to the main antenna port of a UMTS NodeB, and the UMTS_D port to the diversity antenna port of the UMTS NodeB. Connect the BS_M port to the main antenna port of the original BS and the BS_D port to the diversity port of the original BS. The main and diversity antenna ports cannot be connected reversely. Otherwise, a VSWR alarm may be generated on the BS or even the SASU may be damaged.

Step 2 Connect the SASU to the BTS ports on the STMA correctly.
When the SASU is connected to an STMA (AISG STMA), first determine whether the STMA is controlled by the UMTS NodeB or BS. If the SMTA is controlled by the UMTS NodeB, connect the ANT_M port and ANT_D port on the SASU to BTS0 port and BTS1 port on the STMA, respectively. If the SMTA is controlled by the BS, connect the ANT_D port and ANT_M port on the SASU to BTS0 port and BTS1 port on the STMA, respectively. Table 1-2 describes the port connections between the STMA and the SASU.

Step 3 Connect the SASU to the ports on the SASA correctly.

When an SASA is configured, connect the ANT_M port and the ANT_D port on the SASA to the BS_M port and the BS_D port on the SASU, respectively.

1.6 Schemes for the Connection Between the SASU and an Electrically Tuned Antenna
When an electrically tuned antenna is adopted, a scheme for connecting the electrically tuned antenna is required. Figure 1-9 Scheme where the electrically tuned antenna is controlled by the UMTS NodeB (RRU) and the DC switch is in the off state

When a TMA is adopted, the ANT_M port on the SASU is connected to BTS0 port on the TMA. When an SBT is adopted, the SBT is connected to the ANT_M port on the SASU.

Figure 1-11 Scheme where the electrically tuned antenna is controlled by the BS, the UMTS NodeB is an RRU or macro-BTS (the SASU is mounted on a tower or near the BTS port), and the DC switch is in the UMTS state

When an STMA is adopted, the ANT_D port on the SASU is connected to BTS0 port on the STMA. When an SBT is adopted, the SBT is connected to the ANT_D port on the SASU. Currently, the FGSASU2100 supports this scheme. The FGSASU900 does not support this scheme because BTSs working at the 900 MHz band do not support electrically tuned antennas.
