4 Connection
4-1 General Precautions when Wiring
Confirm that Distribution board, the breaker for each unit or power switch is
OFF, and then connect the power line. (normally connected at the last)
 Connect the each cable surely.
Make sure to ground the either side of the connection part, in case of the
shielded cable.
Connect cables orderly. DO NOT wind small an extra part of the cable. If wind
small, a cable becomes coil, this may cause the malfunction.
There are two cables for DC CABLE, HV CABLE, and WATER COOLED
HOSE respectively. One is the cable for Stand FPD, other is for Table FPD.
Connect cables orderly in the same way.

5 Turn On the Power Supply
5-1 Power Input Procedure and Confirmation
Confirm the power on and connection of PSU RACK. Remove the front cover of PSU RACK
and follow the instruction below.

5-1-1 Connection of Power Supply

Supply single phase 200V with AC cable and grounding cable to PSU from the distribution
board.

5-1-2 Power Distribution

(1) Confirm that 200V is supplied from the distribution board to PSU RACK with a tester
before turning on the power.
(2) Turn on the power supply on the breaker, which is placed beside PSU RACK. (See
“Shimadzu FPD System FPD17-R1 Operation Manual” for details.)
(3) When the power of PSU RACK, the power supply of FPD cooling unit and MPC will be
turned on automatically.
(4) Make sure to complete the connection of monitor, keyboard and mouse to PCU for
operation check, so that PCU will be operated in “7 Setting and Conforming PCU “ .

Monitor, keyboard and mouse will not operate after PCU is started, so make sure to
connect them before that. In addition, for PSU, the monitor, the keyboard, and the
mouse are not connected, in case the standard system. Use those components that
are supplied with such as DR console.

(5) After PCU is started, DC power supply and high-voltage power supply can be turned
on from the power control of PCU control software Xcat. FPD cooling unit should be
running during DC power supply is turned on, so do not turn on both DC and
high-voltage power supply when the cooling unit is stopped.

After turn on the power of PSU RACK, check the temperature setting of cooling unit
(see “6-2 Changing Temperature Settings” for details), and refill distilled water (See
“6-3 Refilling of Water” for details) immediately. Temperature is set properly when
shipping, but if not, abnormal setting may damage FPD. Also, the distilled water is not
refilled completely at first. Beware of the temperature malfunction or the damage of
FPD, by the incomplete refill of the distilled water.

In case PCU is turned OFF while the power of FPD is ON, or in case the optical fiber
cable between FPD and PCU is disconnected, the setting inside FPD will be abnormal
and will not be operated properly. In this case, turn OFF FPD by the menu of Xcat on
PCU. (See “7-3 FPD Operation Check “ about the power operation).

6 Setting FPD Cooling Unit
The FPD COOLNG UNIT is set in PSU RACK.
Because the temperature setting of the FPD COOLNG UNIT has been adjusted when shipped,
so it is not required to set it normally. Remove the cover of PSU RACK, and operate it
according to this section when it is required.

6-3 Refilling of Water
6-3-1 Refilling Method
Reservoir tank is shown in the fig. 6-1. The spout for refilling distilled water is circled in the
figure. Capacity of the reservoir tank is about 1.2 liters. Distilled water is required,
depends on the length of the hose, because the capacity of a hose is 1.0 liters. First, put
water into the reservoir tank and turn on the power supply. When water starts circulating,
water in the reservoir tank decreases. So keep refilling water. When decreasing is
stopped, keep working the system for about 10 minutes in that condition. Bubble in the
tube will decrease. In case the bubble does not decrease, the current will go wrong. In
this case, turn the power OFF and ON to decrease the bubble. Confirm the connection
part for the water leakage.

Fig. 6-1 Reservoir tank

6-3-2 Test Run

Keep operating the system for 10-30 minutes to confirm whether the water temperature
gets 23 degrees. (The time to reach 23 degrees depends on the water temperature of
when the operation started.) Confirm no leakage is found around FPD, the hose
connection part, and the back of the FPD cooling unit, after the system is operated. Also,
confirm the water temperature displays 23 degrees.

6-3-3 Periodic Components Replacement

Replace periodically the following components that are listed on “Appendix 1”.

operated by a single FPD17-R1, connect the display like DR console, the keyboard, and the
mouse directly to PCU. Or connect PCU from DR console by a remote desktop, according to
the description in this chapter.

8 Setting MPC

In standard version, MPC is not connected to display, keyboard and mouse. When MPC is
operated by a single FPD17-R1, connect the display like DR console, the keyboard, and the
mouse directly to MPC. Or connect MPC from DR console by a remote desktop, set the
described items in this chapter.

When you connect a monitor, keybord and mous to MPC directly, there is a case not
to display anything on the moniotr after start up Windows. In that case, input
Ctrl+Alt+F1 to display on the monitor.

8-1 Setting MPC LAN Port IP Address

Standard IP address of LAN port is set as “7-2 IP address list”. In case of changing IP
address, see “Appendix 2 Setting IP Address of LAN Port".
Also, when the ID, the password, and IP address of MPC are changed, the setting of Xcat
and CIF on PCU is required. See “Appendix3 Remote Maintenance“.

8-2 Connection of Thermometer

folders, the uploading files, and details for the creation date, see “Appendix3 Remote
Maintenance“.

9-1 PCU (XCAT) to MPC

Confirm transmitting the alert and the log, from PCU(Xcat) to MPC. In case FPD peripheral
device malfunction is occurred, PCU notifies the warnings to MPC (Transmitting the alert
files), and the related files. (Including Log files)
To confirm it, unconnect COOLER WARNING CABLE (See “4-5-7㩷 Connection of FPD
COOLING UNIT“.), and let the FPD malfunction of stand side occurr on purpose, to see if
the alert file and the logfiles are properly transmitted.

1) Open the PCU alert file saving folder ([C:?Diag?PCU?Alert]) and PCU log file saving
folder ([C:?Diag?PCU?log]). In case some files are in the folder, delete them.

3) Let the folder be empty state by deleting the created files in the folder, finally.

9-2 PCU (CIF) to MPC

Confirm transmitting the logs from PCU (CIF) to MPC. CIF runs constantly, and it is set to
