SEM:- VI ROLL NO:- 06 YEAR:- 2023-2024 Introduction • Good and Services Tax was implemented across the country from 1st July 2017. • GST aims to simplify the indirect tax system by replacing multiple taxes, service tax and value added tax. • Consumer durables products classified into two parts major household durables and consumer electronics. • The GST on consumer durable products in India is currently set as 28%. Objective of the study • To study the concept of GST. • To evaluate various factors having impact on consumer durable products. • To study consumer awareness of GST and its application on consumer durable products. • To give suggestions to the study. Research Methodology • Sample size can be defined as the total number of respondents that is to be taken from the population. • In this research, 71 respondents were taken from public. • The researcher has collected the data using structured questionnaire. • In questionnaire method there are certain sets of questions which the respondent have to answer. • The secondary data has been collected from website, Books. 1. Gender 2. Age group 3. Satisfied with current GST slab rate which is imposed on consumer durable goods. 4. Usually seek information about GST on consumer durable products. Findings/Conclusion • The analysis reveals a lack of clear consensus on the current GST slab rate for consumer durables. • The data suggests that there is no clear consensus among respondents regarding their satisfaction with the current GST slab rate on consumer durable goods. • The findings suggest that online platforms are the most preferred source for obtaining information about GST on consumer durable products. • This indicates a strong reliance on digital channels for accessing GST related information on consumer durables. Suggestions • Public awareness: Utilize various media channels to educate consumers concerning GST, including applicable tax rates on different consumer durables. • Retailer collaboration: Partner with retailers to display GST information on product tags or bills. • Impact on specific categories: Research the impact of GST on different consumer durable categories (Electronics appliances, furniture) to identify potential areas for further consumer education.
